I’m doing this to redefine my relationship with alcohol so i don’t *need* to drink at every dinner, every event, etc. I will eventually integrate alcohol back into my life (I think) but it will be on special occasions or when I REALLY want to have a drink and not just on a random Tuesday.
Prior to 2020 I had a years long problem with alcohol as I was using it to soothe my anxiety, depression and loneliness. I cut down soo much but was still drinking at least a few drinks per week and never went out to a dinner, event, concert without drinking. I would also get extremely anxious at said events if i didn’t have a drink in hand and so much of my brain power was spent thinking about alcohol and not being present. This was extremely bothersome to me so I wanted to change these habits.
I dont think I’ve been 60 days without alcohol for at least 10 years. So this is wild to me… it was also way easier than I thought it would be, probably because I was mentally ready as I’ve been thinking about doing this for at least a year and finally felt excited about doing it.
The last 60 days I’ve felt way less general anxiety, less nausea (I used to feel randomly nauseous almost daily), feel a bit calmer, gotta more into fitness (hiii Pilates), and am looking way trimmer. Been through multiple dinners out, birthdays, thanksgiving and a wedding with no alcs. My biggest challenge will be a concert next week butttt I know I can do it!
