I donβt know, youβd have to ask my parents why me and my brothers arenβt. My dad is intact, I know that from memory. It was popular during my birth time so I havenβt seen hardly any other uncut guys my age. I was teased for it back in the day. I think itβs wrong to do this to boys without their consent. If a man wants to, he can make that choice for himself. Routine surgery on infant FEMALE genitals is usually a non-starter for people, meaning they are against it outright and usually upset at the idea. But somehow the same logic doesn't extend to infant males...?? I don't get it. The procedure itself is ROUGH on an infant; and it kills many Africans every year. I had a short frenulum until my early twenties then had a simple surgery to snip it. I bring that up because it gave me a TINY peek at what recovery from a full circumcision would be like. I can't imagine the challenge it must be to keep that area clean on a diapered infant! And the pain it must cause an infant! Or the pain of enduring it! Theres a myth of lack of cleanliness under the foreskin, but that's not the case if a person simply cleans it like any other sensitive part of their body. What's NOT a myth is the change is sensitivity. The foreskin isn't "just" skin. On the inside is a specialized mucosa membrane like the inside of your cheek. Touch your tongue to the inside of your check right now -- feel how sensitive it is? And at the tip of the foreskin is a special group of densely packed nerve endings called the rigid band, which is the most sensitive part of the penis. There's other specialized structures too, but those are the most interesting. I have heard a good comparison -- try this right now. Compare how it feels to lightly run a single finger nail over the palm of your other hand vs. how it feels to do the same across the back of your hand. Try it and let me know if you think thereβs a noticeable difference. Oh but check out this cool chart about rates of circumcision:Β https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/ti73v9/oc_2022_circumcision_rates_by_us_state/Β at least it's falling!
