The movie is basically book 4 of the light novel. I would have preferred it if they had stayed true to the light novel. Mary Sue isn't even part of book 4 and her dad never returned after being killed by Tanya the first time. That might be a reason why we never got the 2nd season. Maybe in the future we will get a remake that stays true to the books.
