Kappa's are a mix between a turtle and human, an old folklore creature in Japanese mythology. The true history on kappa is insane, especially considering how they used to steal your soul... But nowadays, they're just silly lil' guys who love cucumbers a lot.

this is true, i’ve also heard that some aura color changes are also related to toei testing colors to find the best fit (i don’t know how true that is) but that could be a reason for such situations going forward, shouldn’t have a crazy story effect essentially

Silent viewer here. Just a heads up that Wano is the arc where One Pieces animation patterns + overall fight choreography start to do a complete 180 from it's more simple pre-wano style. Things like Aura, Haki color, and SFX will become a lot more embellished from this point on in the story so things like Haki colors and smaller details like it will be subjected to change depending on the episode. Oda does a good job of using dialogue to let us viewers know when anything of note thats Haki related is happening (usually). Enjoying the reactions per usual though <3.
