I'm so glad I watched this. What an amazing episode. The only thing I didn't like was that the cuts were flashing a bit too fast, especially at the beginning, with all the moving around, it actually made me a little sick. But story, vibe and everything else was peak!

I'm soooo happy you guys reacted to this special. Fan Letter truly is a fan letter to us fans, what with how it both showcases how people in the universe are effected by the StrawHats and how we interact with the series in similar ways. And the ART. The animation is soooo clean. I've also heard they might be making another special down the road for the Sanji-centric side manga drawn by the Food Wars mangaka. Oda heavily wants it to be a thing. XD

the parallels between the navy brothers and Ace and Luffy killed me :') it's so so sad, and the fact that theyre both alive was also thanks to Ace, when Mihawk and Crocodile were about to clash a fire blew the brothers away, so yeah, it's so sad 😭💔

Loved the whole thing. I read the summaries of the stories this is based on a while ago actually, but the way they brought it together in the episode is just next level. (Just as some background info: The stories they very roughly combined here are Nami - the little girl is originally a guy trying to also be a pirate, Luffy - the marine brother from Marineford that gets inspired to save his own brother, Franky - a kid that reads a series of magazines about him originally on Water 7, Chopper - the marine obsessed with him, Zoro - the guys in the bar powerscaling, but originally they do so in Dressrosa after the fight there and it's actually a hilarious one as they randomly decide on Mihawk in the end because he looks the hottest :D , and Brook - a fan wanting to go to his concert with his sister. Not really included as those 3 don't fit as well into the changed setting of Sabaody (and/or as their bounty poster have different names or pictures thus they don't get recognized the same way): Robin's story is a girl with the revolutionary army that meets her, who also wants to be an archeologist, Usopp's is a guy back in Syrup village trying to steal from Kaya, and Sanji's is about a woman on a date at the Baratie that isn't into the guy she is with and tries to find Sanji instead but then Zeff tells her he left a while ago).

As a long time One Piece fan this episode spoke directly to my heart in many ways: -The concept of the puzzle pieces as little moments that connected together paint a bigger picture. Small occurrences that influence each other in a sort of butterfly effect. Like Nami, who spent the majority of her life in captivity, is now the ispiration for the girl to live freely. Or like the story of the marine brothers with the older being inspired by Luffy's determination to save Ace. -The depiction of how terribile war feels to common soldiers. The low angles, attacks showing up out of nowhere, the feeling of being small and helpless. -Even the more lighthearted scenes like the boys in the bar powerscaling (lmao) or the marine captain obsessed with Chopper cuteness were amazing. And in the end we are just like these nameless characters, we can only watch our heroes from afar but these stories, even if fictional, have an impact in our lives.

2 things , first its all the crew sining the song and is beatyfull. second. not only is a remaster is a shorted version. half the episodes of original fishman island.

I cannot put in words how much this special made me feel. When the girl sees Nami and does that slow sigh/cry at the end? That makes me cry every time. Megumi Ishitani is just amazing. I hope they continue to let just her do whatever she wants. Her episodes are jawdropping, her openings are gorgeous, and everything she does just has so much heart. You can definetly look forward to her work when you get there :D

so the special fishman island is actually halved compared to the original, i’m not sure exactly how many episodes but it went from about 50 to about 25 i’m pretty sure
