Now that I know how Sanji's father is, the goodbye scene with Zeff hits so much harder. As far as I'm concerned that's his real dad. And that's probably why Sanji is even more conflicted now.

I forgot if it was a scene in the anime or manga, but there is a bit where young Sanji is drinking water from a puddle that was gathered by rain water, in the rocky-dips. So, they did have access to water, which is indeed more important to survival then food, as people can survive 3 days without water but up to 3 weeks without food.

Sanji's whole point is to never WASTE food, and to always eat everything on your plate. He experienced starvation to the extreme and learned that out on sea, even if you're not hungry, you should never waste the food you were handed. I don't think Sanji was in the wrong here at all, especially after Niji responded the way he did in retaliation.

Yeah, manga and live action version Zeff breaks his own leg and eats it while they are in there, I like that version better but still, PEAK Piece as usual <3

As bad as his family is Sanji was also wrong telling Niji to eat his food. He wasn't hungry, he already ate, he told Sanji that and it's not like he demanded a meal.

I like the unspoken dynamics between the siblings. Yonji's the youngest and looks up to Ichiji and Niji, but is commonly teamed up with Reiju, who's the eldest and will assert herself when he needs to be kept in line (like kicking him off the ship). Niji is more aggressive and domineering, but immediately stands down at Ichiji's command. Ichiji is the heir, confidently in control of the other two with minimal effort, but never orders Reiju around. Won't say more for now (spoilers), but considering they'd only just been introduced at this point in the series, and only in this episode did we get to see the whole family interact, it shows good storytelling on Oda's part that we already get how things work in this household.
