btw Gear 4 IS inspired by the Buddhist guardian entity known as the Nio Statue In the SBS(the column where Eiichiro Oda answers fan queries), he explains that Luffy intends to protect things important to him, and this is where the inspiration comes from, because Nio is like a wrathful and muscular guardian of the Buddha You can check out this image and compare Gear 4 with Nio if you want: https://imgur.com/a/EEqNSMF
