Nigredo didn’t cut her own face off, her design is an embodiment of one of her and Albedo’s creator’s (Tabula Smaragdina) personal interest, that being horror movies. If you’re wondering, Albedo embodies Tabula’s love of gap moe.

The creator of Albedo and Nigredo made them as polar opposites with Albedo being beautiful outside and evil inside and Nigredo a horrible visage but kind on the inside. Nigredo like Pestonya and Sebas don't hate all humans. Also when Ains was telling Shalltear about not using her full powers when fighting the first time against a foe Ains is starting with a small force which lets some humans escape and then he can add more powerful forces to finish off the city. No need to use a nuke if you can win with only a few low tier pieces like Death Knights and not show your whole strength.

It has been stated before i am pretty sure in the anime aswell but Albedo has 2 sisters, and she is the middle sister with Nigredo being the eldest, and the other being currently unnamed so far being the youngest. Also Nigredo would of appeared back in s1 when Shalltear got mind controlled but that was cut from the anime.
