Honestly? I kinda dig Kelvin's Robin x Law idea. While I think she and Franky had their moments, he's a little too extroverted for her. Ohhh so it IS inspired by the animals he fought. Like the elephant gun, red hawk or grizzly magnun!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it already but Gear 4th looks similar to Nightmare Luffy from Thriller Bark. Guys, you're almost done with Dressrosa and then One Piece really really starts going crazy. I'm so excited to see your reactions!

When I see Barto and Cavendish together, I still feel oda was missing his Zoro/Sanji dynamic, so he threw them both in a blender and created another bickering duo that ends up ultimately sucessfully teaming up. The green-haired vs. blond - swordsman vs. physical fighter - more brutish rough guy vs. stylish "classy" guy - (and there's some more parallels that I feel would get into spoilers). It's not quite a 1:1 because we got the blond one with the sword this time, but the individual aspects are all there. :D

I've heard before that the appearance of gear 4th is based on Hawaiian/pacific islands mythology, the tattoos on his body while resembling his devil fruit also resemble tribal tattoos, the body type is also similar to some deities, also the steam around his body, got shaped into the type of Ribbon gods, the divine, and spiritual attuned people are depicted with in Japanese culture (other examples you might have noticed before are enel who had a similar ribbon while on his giant form, and aqua from konosuba who sometimes has the ribbon)

Bro I really love Gear 4 for being so wild and savage-looking, yet somewhat goofy, like it really does build upon Luffy's character And his haki kinda tribal kinda devil fruit looking "tattoos" are mostly just for looks, it's like Luffy instinctively coats himself in haki of that pattern AND BTW the characters of One Piece can't see haki coating, it's just something for us viewers to understand whether or not people use it and so when Doffy saw Gear 4, from his perspective it probably looked like this: https://imgur.com/a/zFnaoNF LMAO

All of luffys attacks are named after weapons.... pistol, bazooka, rifle, magnum, etc.... these new Gear 4 attacks, too: - Rhino Schneider was a famous Cannon from 1913. - Culverin was a cannon-type weapon from the late middle ages - Python was a Revolver from 1955 - There will be more attacks in the future... everytime its a weapon named after an animal These weapons are named after animals, i think thats the reason why oda chose to let luffy train with animals.

I honestly think they should keep the Japanese way of saying the gears it sounds way cooler saying gear fourth over fourth gear, also such a cool design choice making his Haki make patterns to look like tattoos. I understand why so many people praise this series (manga/anime) so much now.
