Her words repeated in my mind, echoing like a small rubber ball bouncing inside my adolescent skull… wait, I’m not adolescent anymore… heh, 18.5 year old skull, I think. Not sure about the term.
And as a person transitioning through his barely an adult phase, filled with hormones and whatnot, I chose the only right option… maybe it wasn't the right choice, so I should say I chose the wrong option.
“Option one,” I replied in a low voice.
“Ohhh, you want the description, huh?” Rena said, her voice dropping like I was hearing the note-drop of a depressing song, mixed with just a tinge of sadness—as if she didn't want me to choose that option. And to be honest…
neither did I!
“Oh, bo—no… wait, I mean!” I stuttered, not realizing option one was the description. I should've paid better attention to her when she was speaking earlier, but it’s not my fault her voice was all low and good—I didn’t really notice the words. “Option two, I choose you!”
Rena's eyes narrowed as she gave me an amused chuckle. Her reaction to my answer was confusing. On one hand, she was clearly laughing at me like an anime villain, while with the other, she was now caressing my face the way you’d do a cat and it purrs…
I didn’t purr though. I am not a cat.
“What are you, a Pokemon Master?” she asked, genuinely amused at my stupidit— ‘love for her.’
And while most people regret choosing the wrong option during a spur of the moment thingy, I did not regret it one bit. Well, at least not until I was standing in front of the hospitality sector I was supposed to work at.
Its name was Eclarisis, and while it was famous for the sweets it served, it was more famous for something else… right, it was a maid cafe.
Being the irresponsible adult I am, I checked the address once again on my mobile phone—Verst Street, just left of Cinnamon Lane, opposite the abandoned karaoke bar that never opened but somehow still has reviews.
Yup, it was a maid cafe. A maid cafe that was extremely popular among women because of the cutesy interior. A maid cafe I had no intention of working in.
