*Another* PSA for the Tinkering Aussies in the crowd: bandsaw bargain.
🕑 Added 2025-02-21 09:02:52 +0000 UTCManaged to get Bunnings to honour their beat it by 10% schtick on this Makita bandsaw skin today, if anyone's had their eye on it like I have for a while, now is your time. Normally around the $530 mark, they let me walk out with it for $380.
Normally they try to get out of it because retailers usually get unique model numbers, so argue it's not the same item, but not this time!
Obviously no affiliation to Makita or Bunnings, have just used one of these saws at work for ages, and at this price I couldn't say no.
More actual workshop updates coming soon, but hopefully this helps at least one of you.

A gift from an old mate. It has some history as a map table with wide deep drawers, so externally will look the same but heavily reinforced, on HD castors and a heavy top knocked up by my stair builder neighbour from tread offcuts. Multipurpose so I can mount a mini woodworking bench or 600x400 fixture table. If I had more space I would have dedicated workbenches, but making sure my daughter doesn’t feel like she can’t have a bit of room to create. She’d rather be a tradie but can’t seem to find a real hands-on maker trade where she isn’t treated poorly, so she’s opted for office work. I’ll teach her the rest. Finally getting some relief from the neuro-inflammation and my brain can function, even plan and solve problems again. Body is screaming with overuse after forced sedentary lifestyle for 3 years, but the pure satisfaction of getting things done…..I’ve missed that.

Scratch built bench or fixing up an old friend? I'm beginning to develop an addiction to building benches. I've got my heart set on knocking up a proper welding fixture table in the near future.

Been slicing through 5mm x 100mm steel for workbench bracing today with my Milwaukee version . These saws rock and that is a great price.
