January book update: MIDI 1.0 explained
🕑 Added 2020-01-31 13:58:00 +0000 UTCHi!
The MIDI spec part of an instrument's manual used to be the most intimidating part of it for me - something I felt best ignored in order to maintain my sanity. CCs, MSB/LSB and NPRNs seemed complex and confusing, and hexadecimal numbers like AF BH and 7D weren't helping.
However, over time, I discovered that it's a great place to find hidden gems and make the most of an instrument.
In celebration of MIDI 2.0's upcoming release, I decided to review the entire MIDI 1.0 spec and put together a simple as possible, non-technical guide to the most important and useful aspects of it, hopefully in an easy to understand way.
If after reviewing it things aren't clear or missing, don't be afraid to ask (PM me if you like) - I'm happy to re-review or explain things in more depth.
If you're like I was and ignoring the MIDI section of the manual you're missing out!
Aside from that there are a few smaller updates and tricks... remember, a quick search for the string “<NEW” will take you from update to update
So in summary:
Add a brand new “MIDI 1.0: Everything You Need to Know” section
Added a few Sample and Hold patch ideas
Added a new Sample Packs section
Added references to all the new music and video downloads, and the Sub 25 tips and tricks video.
Thanks very much for your support and all my best,
Ziv (not afraid of NPRNs but still keeping a distance from SYSEX on youtube as "Loopop")

Haha, I didn’t know that!
No, to everything you wanted to ask about sex... I think that came before

Is this a reference to everything you always wanted to hear on the moog but were afraid to ask for?
