I'm no shredder but I love this exercise. It totally unlocked my left hand in about 15 mins. All great being able to rip up and down the neck, which is a long long way off for me, but already I can drop in little 4 nps bursts to what I already do. Opens things up a lot.

My trick is to avoid distorted fret buzz. I'm trying to position my hands and fingers better.

Doing this now every other day for the next 24 days.

Wow this really helps improving my timing and precision with my left hand! Only mistake i make sometimes is creating a dead note with my pick.

Jürgen Franz

What I miss are the background tracks without video and guitar. :(

Amadeusz Gieraga

Such a waste, that we don't have a video for 200 bpm :(

When I practice these exercises its much easier when I position the guitar in my lap in a different place. Like when you see Zakk Wylde or Dimebag Darrell shredding their faces off they place the guitar neck a little further away to their left. Makes the left hand positioning (like the spider finger exercise) easier to accomplish and there is less stress in my left hand when I do so. But I also find if I make my hand create a "pinching" motion between my index and thumb against the neck as well (when I'm way up on the high E string and B string or G string even) my fingers naturally move faster and more accurately almost with a mind of their own.

Love the metal gear solid reference.

wow - that def is a workout - great tips!

Wow this feels weird. But a good exercise, but my hand does a little movement to the index Finger, is this a mistake I should avoid ? Greetings :)

Ronald Gillespie

I practiced this 4 note exercise you show on the video. While I can make the stretch to hit the notes, I cannot do it as quickly as you do it. This is going to require a lot of practice for me.

Tony Guertin

Really cool. I have been wanting to dive into tetrachords for a while. The only other thing I have on it is just tunning through scales this way, but it is funner to do this with your backing track! Maybe a video on the possible shapes and how they link. I think there are 4 shapes and some interesting patterns in how they interconnect.

Steve Shaw

Another great lesson Bernth and I remember what you said about raising the fretboard higher if the stretch is to hard as this makes it easier to stretch the pinky by holding the neck higher.

Love this lesson bernth..Keep them coming

Michael Iadevaio

Thanks for a great lesson. I love the 4- note per string riffs and would love to see more🤘🏻🤘🏻

Emre Yamangil

Omg that "what a surprise" touch!!! Love it!!! <3 <3

David W Harper

Excellent lesson! The exercise is great and your breakdown on how practice difficult passages is spot on and really helpful. Yes, I would like to see more 4 note per string material, you can never have too much shred!
