Warden

Thanks, fixed! =)

Luke Charles

I think you meant carriage here instead of ‘carried’: the walls of the carried were enchanted to give them perfect views of the ou

Warden

Thanks, fixed that typo! =)

Paul Whatever

Great chapter. Nice to get an idea of the 'new' Artorion and of how people see Leon. "an enormous relief of the Thunderbird, winds spread" - I think that should be "wings" instead?

Warden

The squat building is basically a teleportation hub, building off of the Lumenite portal that Nestor built during the war with Terris. Yes, the mountain is secured, flying in is practically impossible. Maia achieved Apotheosis before Val. The Elder Council remains relevant for the Ten Tribes, and the elders on that council also make up most of the higher ranks of Leon's bureaucracy. The council was made mostly to keep the peace and act as a place for cooperation between the Tribes, so wasn't really all that powerful to begin with, and with Leon bringing the Thunderbird Clan back to power, the elders are comfortable leaving the council as a more advisory role within his Kingdom rather than as a legislative or administrative body. The Tribes still have power in the Kingdom, so it's not like they're giving up much in that regard. Don't worry, Iron-Striker is in the Nexus, he just wasn't mentioned in this chapter. I was more concerned with showing Leon and his Kingdom from the outside perspective, with the details being left for subsequent chapters. Maia and her river nymphs are becoming something more complex than the river nymphs of Aeterna. Most of the river nymphs that are kicked out and have to start their own pods are kicked out because they're getting strong enough to challenge their Naiad or Pleione. Maia doesn't have that problem given her power relative to her subordinate nymphs, so doesn't have to kick any of them out. Yet. So long as she maintains her position of power over her fellow nymphs, it won't be a problem.

This chapter showed so much. So naturally I have QUESTIONS: 1. What is the squat building with the incoming luminaire bridges? I couldn’t figure it out. Is it like an executive airport or ark yard? 2. Is the floating mountain a no fly zone or restricted fly zone now? You have to take the bridge? 3. Did Valeria or Maia reach apotheosis first? 4. What’s the situation for the elder council now that all these new vassals have joined up? Does it have any political relevancy at all? 5. How after two hundred years do I still not see homeboy Ironstriker-best chancellor - does this mean the migration is still happening? 6. Now that Maia has a lvl 9 river nymph under her does she technically have to start her own colony?

Luke Charles

Seconded. Some POVs would be great as bonus chapters or something. I’d pay for access.

Kbzzy

I hope Serena is around before Leon has heirs so she can have a chance at motherhood. Or grandmotherhood I suppose

Runaway_Cactuar

Dang, the royal harem has been going at it for centuries, and still no heirs?

Bryn Thomas

Thanks for the chapter!

Kbzzy

Ah, thank you

Kbzzy

Exotikas?

Warden

A tree sprite. Not Tikos, but another, unnamed one.

Kbzzy

Who is the short bark skinned creature sat on the golem?

RiTECH

thank you Warden for the speedy reply.

Warden

The Aesii is the misty death cave, or more specifically the ghostly river that runs through it, that lies beneath Artorion. There are a bunch of them all over the Nexus, and Nexus legends say that the Aesii rivers carry the souls of the dead to the afterlife. This is what Terris may have seen (or may have dreamed, I'm not going to confirm any truth here) back in 1174. Even if people don't believe in the Aesii being the river that bears the dead to an afterlife, they're still dangerous, with the mist being poisonous after extended exposure, and associated with death.

RiTECH

Can someone tell me what "Aesii" is?

WhiteRabbit

I really like the details that went into this scene, makes it feel very realistic.

Felipe

Interesting to see Leon from other perspectives, as well as the development of Artorion. I confess I’d be very interested in a collection of short stories with Leon’s inner circle, as well as Eva, Anastasios, Penelope, the Director, Terris and Archelaus

Warden

No, though there are dragon Ascended Beasts as part of their Clan.

Tijay Arnie

Hmm, do the dragons have the ability to turn into their beast forms?
