Komi CAN Communicate, and She's Better at It Than You

Learning how to livestream took up a good chunk of my time, and I knew it would, but I didn't expect to fall that far behind. I thought I wasn't going to get another video out this month, but a week ago I was like "no, I have to, or I'll hate myself." I was watching Komi at the time, and that's how this video was born. I'm glad I could get it in here right at the buzzer.
I really like this show, and it made me think a lot. It made me feel as well, and that was something I didn't expect. I think some of those feelings came out in the video. It was a pretty intense recording session, as you can probably tell. I was amped up.
I may do another video about Komi once the season is complete, and if there's a season 2, then I definitely will. This was more of a first impression review than any kind of analysis. If you haven't seen the show, I really recommend it. Don't expect Watamote, it's nothing like that, but it's great in its own way.

So, I have a confession - I haven't watched your stuff in months. Not because I didn't want to, or because I dislike you or your content; it's just that anime ain't my thing. I mean, I've seen a few, but only because they fell into my wheelhouse ('Girls und Panzer' and 'Strike Witches' specifically), and enjoyed them well enough. But not enough to get into the medium of anime. And so when 90% of everything coming out was anime-related, I just kind of passed by it and figured I'd come back to it when I was bored or whatever. Well, that time came. I put it on as background noise while cleaning my apartment. And goddammit, you're making me want to look into anime again. Your ability to go back and forth between irreverent and poignant is a rare talent. Then to turn around and use both extremes as a means of driving your salient point home in a way that makes sense is an even rarer talent. It's hard to describe, but you just have this silver tongue that cements your place as a top-tier creator (in my mind, at least). Because if you can make me want to watch something that I had less than zero interest in before your videos, then the least I can do is trust that you know what you're talking about. Maybe I'll finally give 'Girl's Last Tour' a chance. Ultimately what I'm trying to say is: sorry I doubted you, and thank you for making these videos.
