Ah you are right, I did not see the clone looked just like the target. Plus the spell is called "Betray", which implies its their own shadow rising up to attack them. As for subdue or kill, she was tricked into taking a job to be sacrificed, I feel all bets are off the table in that circumstance.

I imagine it's more likely raising a clone of the target(s) made from their own shadow, and causing it to attack its owner. Hopefully aiming more for "subdue" than "kill", but we'll see!
