February Preview II
🕑 Added 2024-01-24 02:05:16 +0000 UTCHere are some updated images. I still have a ways to go in the next seven days and have to do some rework on the bases to get them to work the way I want. We've added some stuff that I felt was critical. This core set will be the only item coming out in February. As usual it just got too big and there is too many items that I feel are critical to this core set. I'll go over the images a bit.
First off we will talk about the side ruins. The ruins are open on one side and freely rest upside the sidewalk walls. They will have an openlock insert on them so they can clip into their mirror or another ruin. So each part has a couple ways it can be orientated. They will all have interiors and pegs on top for the top ruin roofs. They will not have floors. I may do a door variant. In the future I would like to do a version with slums built into the ruins and I would like to reuse the bases as is to minimize reprints. An image above shows one of these parts pulled from the wall. It will not clip these into the road because I want to leave options open. Stability is not as important with low models like this.
Second, we have 4 stair options, all usable and shown above.
- 1. Road endcap stair
- 2. Small stair ruin with statue stands
- 3. Center of the street double stair
- 4. Larger side ruin with stair case.
Third up I made some larger center structures. They will not go together as shown above but will work in separate islands. They may be combined by creating street island on both sides of the Center of the street double stair. The Images above depict these models on a 4x6 foot table so I feel I need to break up the center structures or they will basically overtake most play areas. As for the center pieces there is an empty pool/well with usable stairs and a 2 story temple. These will be propped up with printed frame structures to achieve the correct height.
Finally the streets themselves are done and should loop around on themselves. The corner turn works mirrored or unmirrored and will not require a left or right designation. Top walk ways will be glued on. I also tested the walkways hollow and solid. For whatever reason, hollowing them increased the print time on both standard and speed printers, so the bases will be solid. Streets will contain 3 straight variations, 1 turn, 1 T section, 1 X intersection, and the 2 clip in stairs mentioned. Streets will link with a single openlock which will probably not be needed given the size. On the walkways and ruins, 4 squares equal an inch so this set is somewhat gridded.
