New cores coming! OpenLara, SameBoy, MelonDS!
🕑 Added 2017-04-30 16:34:14 +0000 UTC The Dolphin core is making steady progress and it won't be too long until we will publicly announce it and let you all tinker with it.For now, here is something to tide you over until then :
* MelonDS by StapleButter has been ported to libretro, and will be published on the buildbot soon! This is a promising new Nintendo DS emulator. It is great to see Desmume finally start to get some competition after a long time being unchallenged on PC.
* SameBoy has been ported to libretro, and will be published on the buildbot soon! This is a promising accurate Game Boy/Game Boy Color emulator with several advantages over others.

* OpenLara has been ported to libretro, and will be published on the buildbot soon! This is a Tomb Raider game engine recreation, and it uses the original data files in order to work. What is nice about this one is that it has some very fancy graphics effects that it adds on top of the old game engine without it resulting in any stylistic clashes. For instance, the water effects are greatly improved, there is self shadowing, there are wet shader effects applied on Lara's body when she steps out of the water, there is colored lighting ,etc. It is an OpenGL core so it will be usable on any system that has OpenGL and/or OpenGLES 2 and higher support.

The year numbering is done for the other MAME cores to signify that these MAME cores are frozen in time, unlike the 'main' MAME core.
