I once had a player like this when I was in middle school. My aunt promised me a ipod with a a screen once I got into middle school. She forgot and when I reminded her she got me that thing. I was nuts enough to try and read White Fang on that screen. Overall, I remember it not lasting very long

I have one of these, in fact multiple ones in blue, silver, gold and purple. They use a chip called the Artek AK2117/AK21170-X, and they sound just amazing. Plus, they can read FLAC files up to 16-bit/48kHz and WAVE 16-bit files. I love mine! (128GB uSD card)

Dang, one of my friends had an mp4 player, that looked kind of like this one, but without the speaker. Also had the same "Oh-Ass" on it. Actually compared to my 1battery/song mp3 player it was superb( about 10-12 years ago). But the most annoying thing with that one was that it had the slim jack and no adapter could be found to use actual normal headphones. Aaaand we used to listen a lot of gorillaz. Also You should try to get a really cheap ipod touch knockoff. I had one, mostly it was used to watch movies on it, it was a terrible thing, but hey at least it wasnt cheap(100$)

The "dual color" display on the craig is really a monochrome display with a plastic overlay, the first space invaders cabinets did the same thing.

oh god i had one of these as a teen and eventually all the buttons stopped functioning so i couldnt use it anymore. as for ideas on what to do with it, what if you made your own shell for the guts?

I once had a knock off Ipod Shuffle with a mini USB for charging. The cord caught fire; and melted into my desk, and something in the MP3 player burnt.

The Craig company is still active today, and actually sells a player exactly like this, except with the Dpad compared to the circle pad thing on this model

Why not put the guts of an original nano into the shell? The extra thickness would avoid the problem of battery swelling killing the screen.

I remember having a similar one of those mp3 players. Although mine didn't have an fm player. :( I did get videos on mine tho. Either by using a wonky video format or literary making a folder called movies/videos.

Could you use some of the parts of these bootleg MP3 players and try to make the most janky bootleg MP3 possible, but the internals are from actual iPods. So something that looks like a Craig, but sings like the real thing.

I don’t have much to say about the crapo, but I will say, that Windows Media Player on the EEE PEE CEE looks like the one from Windows Vista. Interesting, because my XP machines have the classic looking one that’s closer to the one bundled in Millennium Edition.

My mom had like 1 or 2 purple ones because her nano was literally a shuffle that had to be docked all the time.
