Is this a Dark Scientist or are we seeing what Marquis said that whether Kim is Aligeri or not, they share a common enemy and the "Rulers of Nephilopolis" have fouler plans in mind for her. Even going back to Page 10, Melchior gave her the Dark Science card and suggested it represented the OPPOSING side of a conflict. So... What if these are those rulers. The ones responsible for recasting people, switching people's limbs, preventing examination of the ruins/artifacts of the giants, etc? The ones running the show that never shuts down? If the Dark Scientists represent reality, they might represent creativity with the show. It would neatly explain why Customer Service and the entire Giant's Arm looked different. Its not an art inconsistency or change of mind to match the story later, it's a change of the stage set.

I realize the romance between Kim and Ling is super distracting, but... Maybe go back to the start of the comic and read it all again to see what the long-running social and political themes have been.

well, of course they should; how else will we get the Gay Agenda?

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run, There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun; Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one? But the union makes us strong! Solidarity forever! Solidarity forever! Solidarity forever! For the union makes us strong! Balthazar underestimates the strength of unions. And also probably didn't see that rifle coming either (not than anyone else did, but the point stands)

This doesn't seem like the MO of any of the Dark Scientists we've seen in action so far. We haven't seen what Somnos (?) or Morningstar can do yet though.

Well, *somebody* is about to be in a pickle.

I'm gonna assume that's Vonnie until proven otherwise

I’d hardly call this “political expression by sniper”. This is quite clearly one of the Dark Scientists using some form of mind control to subvert and ruin the peaceful activist’s protests.

are you saying lesbians shouldn't plot?

Skullface looks a wee bit familiar. I'm willing to bet that this is him acting out after being ejected from a certain pizza joint.

Seems like mind control with a glance would be "Dark Magic?"
Michael Johnson
Sad that Codak's plunge from cheerful hookups into the horrors of political expression by sniper just as the world's democracies are plunging toward another round of madness. Artistic freedom of expression acknowledged, but hoping that the story will avoid the traps of either glorifying or demonizing violent activism?

Oooohhhh, this is an interesting development. I'm wracking my brain now trying to think if we've seen something like this before, or if this is new to us...
MJ
how dare you interrupt my lesbians with plot
Torabi
I am, as usual, equally delighted and confused!
