So I drew all that in one sitting. This is kind of a game changer.
I tweeted a little about this, but I'll share it here too: this week I've made some discoveries, namely that the speed of Dresden Codak is held back by psychological issues on my part and not mechanical ones.
I don't talk about it online much, but I deal with anxiety, and while it's ever-present, I never realized how much of an impact it had on my work and productivity until now. Just a few changes to organization (with the help of my amazing assistant) and, honestly, just believing in myself has turned a week's worth of work into something I can finish in a day.
It looks like, ironically, I may actually be an incredibly fast cartoonist, but a sense of inferiority about not going to art school (and anxiety in general) has essentially kept me from letting myself be that. I'll probably jinx it by mentioning it here, but so be it.
Thanks again to everyone who supports me here. I literally would not have made this breakthrough if we didn't reach the funding level to actually sit down and make this happen.

I only now have seen this post; I'm not sure why it suddenly appeared in my feed since it appears[1] to have been posted a long while ago? Nevertheless I must say: Your artwork is breathtaking; it's stunning; it's captivating. If you didn't go to art school I can only wonder what greatness we would see if fewer people went. I wait for your artwork each month, eagerly. The fact there's a story attached just makes your work even better. [note 1] the post says Feb of 2015, but maybe it was just posted now? In the context of your redrawing-effort?

Dude, you dont need any fancy pantsy art scool degree when you got talent. Heck, my father never went to art school, he had to work after elementary school. But he paints the most amazing and realistic paintings out there, he didnt need no art school cause he has talent, and you kind sir have amazing talent. just because you lack a paper saying that you're talented doesnt make you any less. Keep up the good work and do what you love doing.
