MORE KORRA <3

KayJayO

I think it’s more they had things they wanted to do but wrote themselves in a corner by trying to keep the same sort of group and formula as ATLA which I bet was part of the studio struggle they had

K

They could have gone the Riverdale route with resolving the love triangle lol.

K

This is the correct explanation but I think it would be fun if he forgot something every time he learned something new so it was always 10,000

K

That’s the problem when your characters are basically adults. They’re going to be doing their own thing more.

The show creators did some homework, the world-building connects because of the little connections to real-life cultures and language.

Lindsay Mathieson

Interesting, thanks!

I totally agree, the whole mako storyline was a bit meh from the start but for korra specifically it's such a strong season she really shines in some dark moments

David Elligott

Yeah I think most of the Season 2 haters were the general Korra haters that realized the first season was actually pretty good and couldn’t find enough with it to complain about. Season 2 has some objectively iffy parts and has some subjectively controversial decisions but overall it has amazing character moments, takes great risks, and introduces Varrick and Zhu-Li who are two of my favorite characters. Korra is an amazing show that deserves its place alongside AtLA.

David Elligott

You’re not wrong, though I would say 10,000 doesn’t mean “everything” as much as it means “more than can (easily) be counted”. I don’t think it’s meant to imply measurelessness or infinity but more like we would use “a million” in English

ADorneofSwords

more more more plllleeeassee

KayJayO

I just don’t think they new what to do with him and shoehorned it in so that all the characters weren’t off on their own 😅

Lindsay Mathieson

It's not been mentioned much, but a big shout for the music score! it was good in ATLA, but Zuckerman really lifted his game for Korra. Just haunting and beautiful.

Lindsay Mathieson

In regard to WonShiTun "knowing 10,000 things", I've been told that in Chinese mythology, 10,000 is used as a metaphor for "everything", rather than a limited number. Could be wrong though.

Lindsay Mathieson

Meh, not a fan of the teen romance drama, but it is realistic.

KayJayO

i shouldn’t say lazy writing but…y’know just i wish it’d been handled differently

KayJayO

honestly anything i dislike about LOK can be narrowed down to what they did with Mako (specifically romance) lazy writing lol

Kristine Gjersvik

yea

Rey's Got Plans

So excited for the finale and beyond 😁 so wonderful getting some iroh wisdom in 🥰

K

Nobody is ever ready for casually immortal Iroh.

I think people just focus everything on not liking Korra during the civil wars episodes and one other story beat they haven't reached, and forget about all the amazing stuff in the season.
