The first three Planet of the Apes reboot films are actually really good: Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). Please react to those! The Tim Burton one with Mark Walberg is Planet of the Apes (2001) and (I think) it's a redo of the original 1960's-1970's films. It's not that good tho. The aforementioned trilogy of films (with James Franco in the first one) is much better and hits in the feels. It's kind of a prequel to the other films, similar to how the 1999-2005 Star Wars trilogy precede the 1977-1983 trilogy. If you want to appreciate some references and for the sake of saying you did it, watch the original Planet of the Apes films, but it isn't required to understand what's going on.
