Winter '24 print- MACROSS!

As always, layout by me and Maki, colour fixups and colour grading by Maki, final illustration by me. This print will be flying out to all of you in the Elite tier soon, so please make sure your addresses are correct so that yours doesn't go space folding off into the middle of a battlefield full of space vampires.
Working on this made me realise just how numerous and varied the designs for the Valkyries have been over the years in assorted Macross series. My absolute favourite is still the YF-21 from Macross Plus (1994) so I made sure it got a nice closeup along with Basara's VF-19 from my favourite show, Macross 7 (1995).
There are plenty of Valkyries from the very first Macross (1983) up until Macross littered throughout the image and, of course, nothing after Macross 7 matters anyway! Hohoho!

Oh, and Macross 2 is alternative universe non-canon so sadly no VF-2 in the picture! Which is a shame because it's an absolute beauty.
The Macross itself is the movie design (1984), as the TV series is a little too brightly coloured for my tastes and I guess Shoji Kawamori agreed because the movie version is what showed up whenever Macross appeared in later shows!

Well done! About the only thing I didn't manage to get in there was an original VF-1 with the FAST packs. Oh, and no VF-14 either, though that's really obscure!

But yeah from top left to right - squadron of VF4s, then Max & Myria QUADRAN-RAU!! (no I am not gonna ever spell that 'correctly' - I mean, I am just a Pedro!), then the aforementioned YF-21 with a VF-1 below it (not sure which one), and THE FIRE VALKYRIE next to it (VF-19 Kai), flanked by THE GIRLY VALK (VF-11 MAXL) and the VF-17T Kai too... so basically SOUND FORCE have SHOWED UP here :-D Top right corner is EMERALD FORCE squadron of VF-22's.. Below Basara is a VF-11, and next to that DIAMOND FORCE VF-17D's and a VF-17S. Under the arm of the Macross SDF-1 is Isamu's YF-19 too ofc... and then a big VF-1S, perhaps the "Focker special"; well it's the right colours and a VF-1A... that again appears to be the VF-1A Hikaru Ichijyo Custom ;-) Plus lots of VF1s in the background too!

And this is seriously awesome though! :-D Shoulda stuck it to the man though and put a VF-2SS in there! Cos COME ON it's one of the most beautiful Valkyries ever & WHAT a mech designer that's easily of the calibre of Kawamori himself too.
