Gloryhole: Level-up System

I’m happy to say that we’ve done a massive amount of work on the Gloryhole, working literally every day with no days off (seriously, we don’t even have time to write these posts!), and we’re in the “make it pretty” stage right now. I’m putting the final touches on the UI, adding animated effects, card tooltips and other important code things required to make the game comfortable to play!
We promised to tell you about the level-up system quite a while ago, and now it’s finally time.

Why do you even need leveling in a gloryhole game, you might reasonably ask. The answer is very simple – it makes the game more fun. We want to create a gameplay mode you can come back to from time to time, try different strategies and unlock new images and poses. That’s why we want the Gloryhole to create a sense of “progression” in the player: at the start of your path, the heroine is but an inexperienced girl, and at the end (if you get there!) she’s an experienced coc*sucker. A leveling system fits perfectly here.
Every time our heroine satisfies a client, she gains experience (XP). The better you are at servicing the clients, the more experience she will gain. After gaining enough experience, you level up.
With every new level, Luna unlocks:

After getting a new pose, you can use it in the Gloryhole to create combinations. For example, the heroine can assume a Blo*job-Han*job pose, or an Anal-Blo*job one. You can use any pose that is physically possible for your heroine with your currently available poses!

Cards for your poses
After getting a new pose, the player unlocks the ability to gain and upgrade cards of that pose. For example, if the player upgrades the Han*job pose, they can unlock new cards for that pose after leveling up.

Not only do you get new cards, but you also get to see beautiful images drawn by TitDang and our new artist, which will be shown on card use!

Upgrades for existing cards
You can come up with cool combos using upgraded cards! Levelling up will often upgrade existing cards in your deck. We created a card upgrade system for that. Sometimes the upgrades will be as simple as “+1 to dice roll”, but some more complex upgrades will require a deeper understanding if you want your heroine to work hard!

New types of clients to increase difficulty
Now we know why we’re adding leveling up to the game. But what do you need all those upgrades for? Every new client is a little tougher than the previous one, which means you’ll need stronger and stronger cards to handle them. But if it was all about numbers, it would be pretty boring. That’s why we also added “picky” clients, which have a chance of appearing instead of normal clients or if certain special conditions are met.
These picky clients have unique mechanics that can make life difficult even for a seasoned heroine. For example, the “Self-Conscious” type won’t let you place cards in one of his slots (you usually get two slots), another type can fill your deck with useless “Pubic Hair” cards, another expects the heroine to use a certain pose, etc. We came up with a bunch of mechanics to keep your interested even after your heroine’s all leveled up!

We use placeholders TitDang sketched out to test cards. We thought they were funny, so we’re sharing them here. Rule34 veterans might even recognize some of the images as references to other adult artists’ works.

As you can see, we’re working hard to bring you the Gloryhole! Many of the systems and ideas are already in place, and we have a solid technical base. We will create a Gloryhole Support Roadmap closer to release, and TitDang will likely write another long post before the release.
We’d love your feedback, and that’s why we will have a beta version this month for our biggest patrons! It will come with a special form to make it easy to share your opinions, suggestions and bug reports.
We really want this game to be fun to play, not just jerk off to. That’s why we dove headfirst into its development, putting the other projects on hold (although we’re still making slow progress on them!).
