Gloryhole. The card system and artwork

I’m happy to report that the gloryhole is progressing very smoothly! I spent the last couple of weeks exclusively on visual design, making the game look pretty while keeping it clear and understandable to every player. This UI design includes elements like the player’s hand and deck, card descriptions, trait descriptions inside cards, visual hints and gauges, an expanding action log and the level-up screen. Right now, I’m working on coding and implementation, to make sure all the elements you see on screen work properly: the things you click get clicked and the things that should get highlighted or moved… get highlighted or moved!

We came up with and planned 36 cards: 6 cards for each of the 5 pose suits and 6 “suitless” cards that are convenient to play in any game state. The player can use cards on the tavern’s clients, move them in their hand, add and remove them from different slots – all of these are interactions between various game systems and the interface that I need to handle. The calculations will be based on dice rolls, using various dice from d4 to d20, which TitDang loves very much. As the designer, I’ll do my best to explain what every card does and what a “d6 roll” or a “roll with advantage” means to make the game easy to play even for players who have never encountered d20 systems before.

This card not only gives pleasure to the client, but has two special traits – it allows you to draw one more card but also cannot be removed from its slot (most cards usually can be).
You will encounter various game mechanics like Exhausting cards, Luck or Quick Use. I made a hint system to ensure players never get lost in the terminology and can always get information on a specific gameplay element.

The player can also view all the cards they currently have. To let the player get familiar with their set quickly and conveniently, I created a special Deck screen. You can click on any card in the Deck screen to see its description, the same way you can click a card to view it anywhere else.
36 cards means 36 images. That’s a lot! But you can’t have cards without images, right? TitDang and another artist of ours are drawing CGs for every card right now. The CGs will be fully displayed when you play a card to give you a better look. You can see the artwork for 5 suitless cards and 2 Handjob suit cards below.
