After a glance from John, Nathalia rolled her eyes and tossed one of her scales on top. The gemstone in her chest went untouched. As she had announced previously, she had been chipping away at that a lot for him already and to harvest too many shards from it too quickly would have her feel like she was missing a toenail for a couple dozen years. Not a fate John wished on anybody he loved.

“Can we talk about metal being low in fat, making what Delicia said nonsense from the start?” Lee asked, only for Beatrice’s head to turn 90 degrees, like that of an upset owl. “…Was that what you tried to say?”
“Affirmative,” the passive maid grumbled.
“Hey, hey, here, I have two giant reasons why you should ignore anything stupid I say.” Delicia crossed her arms under her tits and jiggled in her chair. There was no one that could keep their stare. When a rack like that was in motion, the world paid attention. “Like moths to the flame,” the alchemist smugly declared. “It’s so easy with you all. Usually, it would have been a terrible idea for an Artificial or Natural Spirit to down any kind of material that could spoil, but everyone was too interested to see where this was going. After she had emptied it all, Delicia grabbed an empty glass and put a hand on top of it.
She was swiftly getting used to her new powers, made evident by the speed at which the fluid streamed from her finger. It was like watching honey fall out of a really filled up flow hive. It stopped after a bit and Delicia wiped her finger off on the edge of the glass. Proudly, she presented it to the head maid.
Aclysia took the glass and gave it a smell test. “Soap?” she asked.

That Aclysia, Beatrice and Nathalia were staring daggers at her for this did not bother her. “Alchemy can be roughly separated into creation, transmutation, and mutagens. While creation, of potions specifically, is the most commercially used aspect, and mutagens may be the flashiest aspect of it all, transmutation claims 36 of the 49 basic procedures. Using the right chain of transmutations, you can convert basically anything into everything else. The three limiting factors to that are that the atomic mass of what went into the procedure can deviate no less than 7,77% from the original input, that the magical strength must be equal unless diminished or enriched, and that the item must have a similar symbolic value at the end than it had at the beginning.”
John raised his eyebrow. “That last one is… odd,” he commented, “incredibly vague too. Who exactly decides what the equal symbolic value is?”
“See, that’s what is so interesting about alchemy: nobody really does,” Delicia chirped and jumped off the chair. “It prevents me from converting milk into gold, at least with regular quantities of milk involved. It would also stop me from converting gold into Elementium, sand into pearls, or other such incredible exchanges of value. However, I could convert a widely known single copy of an important historical text into an incredibly valuable material, provided I add the necessary mana.”
“Personal feelings?”
“Rarely play anything more than a minor note. There is no recorded incident of an alchemist being capable of drawing immense value of an item they only personally cherished. Feelings of an alchemist only manifest in the Investment Effect. It adds minor effects to potions based on the emotions felt during the creation and procedures the alchemist elected to use.” Delicia drained the rest of the ‘milk’ out of herself as plain water. “And that is one litre done for the day for demonstration purposes. Urgh, why couldn’t she have bound it to mass instead of volume? So awkward.”
“Are there local differences?” John asked, trying to solve this riddle.
“Minor, yeah, why?” Delicia asked.
Since she was now an official part of the harem and thus practically guaranteed to stay with him, it was time to introduce her to the large secrets they were aware of. John told her about Romulus and Remus, about the core of faith in Sicily and the true purpose of leylines. He also told her about Gaia. At the end of it all, Delicia laughed.
“Seriously! Oh wow, even the supreme deity has daddy issues, huh?” The alchemist got back to slapping the table in amusement. That was the most carefree reaction anyone had to reality potentially being a dream yet. “Ah, well, whether everything is a dream or the result of a giant explosion makes about the same amount of sense to me,” she responded to that thought.
“Well, as long as you’re happy,” the Gamer hummed. “Anyway, I would guess that the possibilities of transmutation are hooked up to the leylines, thus making the symbolic value of things a collective conscious decision.”
“That is a leading theory anyway. Nice to have it essentially confirmed.” Delicia threw a handful of metal shreds in her mouth, like popcorn. “Good alchemishts cahn jusht go wishth their gut on shtuff. Makesh shense, that’sh what the shared exshperience of humanity boilsh down to anyway.” Delicia swallowed after chewing the shreds into even smaller pieces.
Watching her devour metal spurred on the obvious idea. “Really sucks that you can’t convert solid materials.”
“Huh? Of course, I can, you take me for some third-rate alchemist?” Delicia gave him a flabbergasted stare.
“But you can only push liquids out of your body?” John asked.
“Right, right, I forgot that you are uneducated again, sorry about that,” Delicia giggled. “Hey, do you need me to explain even more, big guy? Do you? Do you? Come on, beg for it. Beg your ‘maid’ for a lesson.”
John’s left eye twitched. “Alright, that’s it,” he stated out loud and put his fork down.
“Less than thirty minutes, I win,” Rave declared, to the universal grumbling of everyone else. When they had bet on how long it would take John to snap at the brat, he had no idea.
In any case, he circled around the table and took the basket of metals away from Delicia. A mere necessity for him to grab her by the wrist. She gave him big eyes and a surprised face. Then she grinned widely when he dragged her to the couch. “Awww, you think you can punish me into submission, huh?” she asked mockingly. “That’s so cute of you.”

I generate a bit, but for something like that you’d have to level me up quite a bit… also I’d need to figure things out first. Haven’t done that particular transmutation yet, if you can believe that. Everyone was always too stingy to let me try, even Maria!”
“Could you re-enact the experiments physically?” John wondered. Fundamentally, Delicia’s body was enabling her to do conscious efforts within herself. The tools were no longer required, but the necessary know-how of how the transmutations worked would have been the same. Which meant that, with the right teaching… wait a second. “Did you just say Maria, Max’ money wasting sister Maria, was too stingy to let you try?”
“Yeah! So unfair! Why does she get to waste the entire treasury and when I ask for a tiny cut of three months worth of taxes per try, I am the unreasonable one!” Delicia complained. “It’d take me like ten tries at most, I am a genius.”
‘That’s still 2 and a half years of taxes,’ the Gamer thought.
“Just give me a warehouse and fifty labourers and we might be able to pull it off, yeah.”
“…We’ll stick to you doing research on your own for now,” the Gamer decided. “And before we do that, you get to eating so I can get you all those levels.”
“But you are letting me research on how to do that, with Fusion’s resources?” Delicia pushed her ass up seductively as she asked that.
