The Gamer Chapter 1140 – No time for politics

He hadn’t been in his actual bed, the Newman-sized one, in over a week and hadn’t spent a full night in it in over a month. The final act of the Order’s integration had happened today. The new states had been ratified, their addition to the Federation therefore confirmed by its current members, and their elections had been set one year from now. An untypically long gap, born from the lack of local administrators to set up any such election. A year under a transitory government was, historically speaking, the blink of an eye.
“Momooooo?!” he shouted, half of his face pressed into a cushion.
“What?” she shouted back, peeking her head into the bedroom.
“For your service this past month, I award you a free pass of sitting on my face for an entire day, whenever we have the time for that.”
“So, never?” his chancellor asked and fully entered the room.
“Please don’t depress me any further, we just got done with this horridly drawn-out work.”
“We put together a transitory administration for a land area the size of western Europe in a month,” the sassy support stated swiftly, suspiciously shining spheres silently spawning and stopping around her fairy wings. “I say that’s pretty quick, even for two super-geniuses. Anyway, any chance I can spread that reward out over time?”
“Please do,” John just groaned and rolled on his back. Raw thankfulness for the fantastic help she had been put him in a giving mood, despite his mental fatigue. The fairy maid climbed on top of him, showing a clear smile while she was on all fours above him. He wasn’t the only one relieved that they had finally gotten this over with. Immediately, they started making out. Her gloved hands caressed the side of his face, his palm came down on her bare ass with a loud smack, feeling its bounciness and the strap that connected the garter belt to her stockings.
“Hmmm-Master,” she gasped between kisses, as was proper for his maids to do in response to being spanked. Temptation to just thrust up into her was more than mild. However, he had promised something and he was always true to his word. Most of the time, he was always true to his word.
Momo must have thought something similar and began her crawl up to the necessary height to straddle his face. Her thick thighs dominated his field of view, the pale skin wonderfully squished by the black stockings. The pretty pink slit and the dark blue Lover’s Will mark were the only colour on her otherwise paper white, smooth body. She started to lower herself on his face, when a call interrupted them.
“John, Moi-Moi is on the phone!” Rave shouted from the other room. “Says it’s urgent!”
“For the love of…” John’s raised head fell back onto the mattress. “If this is bad news, I will bribe Gaia to punish her cult.”
“How would you bribe the supreme deity of reality?” Momo asked with a raised eyebrow and glanced over her shoulder. “Never mind, I just remembered that she’s the giant perv that gave you that large dick.”
John had many retorts to that, but those had to wait until after he had dealt with whatever this was about. Raising one leg, the sassy support let her master roll out of the desired position between her thighs and move towards the talk with the unattainable redhead. Horny as he was, John could only think about the fact that Moira was someone he could never have, so he was unenthusiastic about talking to her.
What raised his spirits slightly was his nude girlfriend. Pink-haired and thoroughly human in appearance, she handed him the phone. After she had woken up from her post-duel, post-fucking slumber, she had suddenly realized how to make the ears and tail disappear. It proved that Illuminare’s enchantments worked and it also made her mundane life easier.
“Hello, John here,” the Gamer greeted Moira in as happy a tone as he could muster. Then he gasped, because Rave grabbed his cock and started stroking.
“Tell her to stop that!” Moira immediately demanded.
“No.” John didn’t even try to hide it, instead enjoying the little bit of spice this added. When it came to teasing Moira, Rave was more enthusiastic than ever. “Please tell me you haven’t been approached with a border conflict? Because shifting borders between states is an arduous process…”
“I called to tell you about our choice for the House of Exceptionals,” the Warden got straight to the point. Although the Order of the Golden Rose had sacrificed any representation in the House of Commons to retain its current knightly order structure, they were still entitled to their one seat in the House of Exceptionals. This was due to the spirit between those two houses, one embodying democratic will and the other the elite’s superior influence over society. One could argue that the latter shouldn’t be enshrined in a governmental body, but as far as John knew about history, undiluted democracy was just tyranny of the masses and elites that didn’t get any power found a way to get power. Better the devil you knew than the devil you don’t, was the motto.
Especially when that devil could blow up a city block on a particularly upset afternoon.
“You can just appoint them, there’s no need to inform me,” John let Moira know.
“It’s Lorelei Varnik.”
The hand on John’s dick froze and withdrew, allowing the Gamer to turn his brain cells to that revelation. “Lorelei? The incredibly cute seer of which we both know I will flirt at every opportunity, you will send her right to my doorstep?”
“She has insisted on fulfilling the role of ambassador to Fusion and this is the closest equivalent we have,” Moira responded.
“Okay… I’m just saying that it strikes me as odd that you oblige her.”
“Lorelei is my friend.” The answer was sharp and clear. “This was her wish. Father decided to oblige after much consideration. If you make her regret it, I will find a way to make you pay.”
John believed her, which made it fortunate that he meant what he said next, “I would never make her regret this.”
“You better stay true to that. She’d like it if you could take her to the Hudson Barrier via the teleporter tomorrow.”
“I can do that,” he promised, although his mind was torn between different duties.
“Good…” There was silence and then Moira asked, “Can you hand me back to Rave?”
“Sure,” John obliged and offered the phone to his girlfriend, who was already ready to take it.
“Waddup Moi-Mo- Gaia, ya sound like Lydia after I pulled her pants down in public… no, of course I never did that!” Rave groaned into the phone and the two continued their back and forth.
John wasn’t sure what relationship exactly those two had now. A rivalry of some description, that part was obvious. Whether it was a friendly rivalry, a bitter rivalry, or just a plain rivalry remained to be seen. They were talking a lot these days, so that pointed at some mutual enjoyment of their conversations. John had an inkling that they liked being mad at each other. He didn’t think much of it. Rave had already asked if he minded if she and Moira ever helped each other with post-battle urges. Jokingly, his answer had been to film it. Seriously, he didn’t mind, just like he didn’t mind if Rave sometimes did it with other women outside the harem. It just had to happen in moderation. The harem was the main source of physical and mental closeness for all of them. The occasional stint here and there was supplementary only for the physical desires.
While they went after that, John pondered what to do. Tomorrow was Sunday and he wanted to finally get to that Adventure. Yet, his heart pulled him towards Lorelei. It was incredible how much one could yearn for the presence of someone one had spent so little time with. There was also the entire political situation to re-integrate himself with.
He had a rough overview of the situation. Recent additions to the Parliament from Pacificia and the three Lake Alliance states had primarily strengthened the Supernatural People Party, the Fusion Libertarians and the Centralists, with small benefits to the Crowning Party. Everyone else had either stayed the same or gained too few seats to keep or raise the previous percentage of the House of Commons they had held. Even the new Lake Party was pretty weak.
John was out of the loop on the exact numbers and the personalities of the new members. He also had no time to read all of the proposals that had been put through the apparatus in the last month. Thankfully, a bicameral system was relatively slow when it came to getting most things done. Even if he hadn’t missed too much yet, the longer he stayed out of the loop, the harder it would be to get back into it.
“So, where are we on the ‘using your face as a seat’?” Momo asked.
“Delayed while I have to consider some stuff,” John admitted with a heavy sigh. “How stable do you think Fusion is right now?”
“Well, the Individualists have been mostly absorbed by the other parties, the ten that remain are basically independents. The Free party is lying low after we busted one of their close affiliates for smuggling, so obviously the people wanting to dissolve the state from within have no momentum whatsoever,” Momo recounted the most important factors first. “The Revealers moan and complain, but every other party looks at them like weirdos, so they’re no factor.”
“And the Lake Alliance?” the Gamer asked.
“The new representatives from the Lake Alliance mostly went into the Supernatural People Party and the Libertarians. That skewed the goals of the parties a little bit, but for the most part that influx just means that the centre got stronger, which is good for stability.”
“Hmmm,” John hummed and rubbed his chin. “Do you think we could afford a test run of letting the system run on autopilot for a little while longer?”
Momo didn’t answer immediately. Like him, she must have been pondering their current situation. If the parliament was mostly stable, and would remain so until the elections of the new states threw a wrench in there, then staying out of the internal affairs for a little bit should at least not be catastrophic. When it came to external issues, there wasn’t too much to be done right now either. The majority of trade agreements had either been struck or were in state of negotiation that could be left to the minister. Militarily, Fusion was now the undisputed hegemon of the northern USA. Threats from that angle were unlikely to occur and they weren’t competing against anybody for expansion anymore.
If there was an aspect where John’s personal expertise may have been needed, it was to head to the remaining small guilds between them and the west coast to negotiate diplomatic integration. There was no hurry to that. As a matter of fact, it was advisable to let the situation relax for a little while. This most recent expansion, bloodless as it was, would put even the most positively dispositioned leader on edge. That and the administration seriously needed some time to deal with the expanded areas. A proper census still had to account for the location of the people that John’s Guild mechanics had already counted.
Fusion was almost 300’000 people strong by now. That was vastly underneath John’s initial guess of the population density of about 1,6 million for the entire USA. That would have been just for the humans too, not including the various species that lived scattered around the continent. His error had come from applying a ratio to the current population of the USA. The ratio was an estimate and the factors required for a baby boom in the Abyss hadn’t been met yet. Abyssals had tools to let their babies survive childhood for thousands of years. Safety was a bigger concern.
‘The entirety of Fusion doesn’t even have double the population of Abyssal Berlin… well, I’ll change that in a generation or three,’ John thought. ‘It’s not like we have a lack of manpower. Europe just got a head start.’
“It should work,” Momo responded. “Most of our ministers are… reliable…” She used the nicest word she could. “They’ll at least not fuck anything up beyond repair. Maybe you should tell Emrik?” The suggestion didn’t surprise John too much, but Gnome, who sat on the couch nearby, decided to weigh in on the conversation upon hearing that.
“Uhm… the guy who said he’s in the Federation only for the convenience of the Lake Alliance? You think we should tell him that we’re out of commission for a little bit?”
“Whether we like him or not, he is the Speaker of the House of Commons,” John responded, having had the idea himself. “Plus, he’s confined by his position. To remain Speaker, he has to keep the other parties happy. To do anything that’ll primarily benefit the Lake Alliance, he’ll need to do quite a bit of negotiating.” John grabbed his private mobile phone, since Rave was still occupying the official one, and punched in the number. “As they say: keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
John had barely finished saying that when Emrik picked up the phone. “Who’s there?”
“John Newman,” the Gamer introduced himself with his full name, just in case his voice sounded off through the speaker.
“A good evening,” the Speaker of the House greeted with a slightly above average level of friendliness in his voice. “I assumed you would just crash into your bed after the past month of work.”
“That was the plan, but I just got some news that forced me to make a decision,” John responded. “Let’s get straight to the point: I won’t have time for politics in the near future. At least for another week, possibly for a month. It depends on how long business in another Kingdom will take me.”
“Another Kingdom? You won’t be on Earth?” Emrik asked.
“I’ll be here.” The Gamer took a small pause after that. He didn’t want there to be any misunderstanding on that bit. “I’ll hear of anything that’s happening. The mechanics of my business elsewhere aren’t that important. I’d just like you to understand that I trust you to do what’s best for Fusion in my absence.”
It was a veiled threat and an opportunity, and Emrik understood that. If the Speaker failed here, then John would do his best to replace the man, just so the Gamer had peace of mind in future instances of this happening. Success, however, meant that John would be more willing to stay out of the parliament for more of its sessions. The veto and influence of the president absent meant that Emrik wielded more power de-facto.
John knew that this situation had to come about at one point or another. Well, it didn’t strictly ‘have to’. It was more of a ‘needed to’. If he ever wanted to transition out of seventy to eighty hour work weeks, relinquishing influence was an unavoidable side effect.
“What is best for Fusion,” Emrik promised. “Anything else?”
“No, that would be it,” John responded and they ended the call. Having Emrik as political opposition was incredibly pleasant compared to William. He was cordial in his complaints and caution.
Momo poked the side of his face. “Want to tell me why you did that right now? For all we know, the Adventure could be over in two hours.”
“Well, whatever happens, I thought having a week off would be nice,” John responded and threw the phone back onto the shelf. Then he grabbed the hand still poking him and guided Momo back to the bedroom. “Beatrice can inform the ministries, let’s get back to that face-sitting.”
A proper harem night was had.
