🕑 Added 2025-04-14 06:32:11 +0000 UTCI've been thinking a lot, the last couple of days, of whether or not to continue with a sandbox-y, point and click type of navigation, or if we should keep it simple, streamline and move fully into a visual novel type of narrative.
I'm currently leaning towards simplifying, and focus all time and energy on driving the story forward instead of also having to cater for dynamic user navigation actions.
So, in practice, if we go down that lane, we would get rid of the map and instead automatically drive the user to where they need to be in the story.
I kind of like the idea of point and click to navigate, but it need to serve a purpose and I'm not sure I can justify the complexity that comes with it. I would rather invest in making a superb story.

I suppose ultimately it comes down to what it adds to the game. So far everything has actually been linear so the sandbox didn't have a purpose. It depends on the future pathing - are you going to have a significant number of storylines with a bit of progression (e.g. photo hunt) or a mainly linear story progression? If linear the sandbox doesn't really add much.
