Sketchbook ✿ September week 1

As promised, here are some sketchbook scans, though I did a little cheating this time 😅
To be honest, I’m still not anywhere near where I used to be in terms of ideas and motivation to draw. So starting next week, I want to try a new approach: sitting down every day for a couple of hours, away from my computer, and seeing if I can turn that into a habit.
So this sketchbook is actually one of my old favorites. The dates go from 03.2021 to 11.2021, and it’s a Midori MD A6, my absolute fave size! 💖 I think this is the point where I started redefining my drawing style, and it’s the closest to what I do now. A lot of these pieces are still some of my personal favorites.
I hope you enjoy flipping through it! For me, it’s always a nice workout to look back at what I was capable of, and to grab new ideas from old work~ Although it feels a bit contradictory, because I also get this nagging feeling that I’m not as good an artist as I used to be. Even though I know I’ve improved a lot, that thought is always at the back of my head.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I appreciate it a lot, even if I always end up doing whateever, it makes me think from other perspectives and that's really useful~ I gave myself some days off because I also needed to know where I want to head. It's easy to get on the daily rhythm and completely forget what I was doing all this for~ I haven’t reached any conclusions yet, but I’m sure I eventually will, especially now that I’m starting to step away from the endless scrolling of social media~ at least I have more time to draw :))

So, so cute 😍 My favorite is also the cat in the box :D I don’t know if this can be useful, but whenever I feel far from where I want to be, I try to remind myself that there’s what I want to do and what I actually have the energy or headspace to do. A lot of things can influence that, like the weather (super hot and humid, like you said in your last podcast), my cycle, mood, or even just how much sleep I got. And sometimes it’s not just a day or two, it can last for longer periods. But I try to see those times as part of the process too, because they often give me the rest or perspective I need to move forward later.
