Monsters At The Gate
CHAPTER 4:
"The Starman"
The slaughter she had organized and long awaited was now taking place, and all longed for a reward to herself for an arduous and not at all wasted effort.
In the Void, there was only her huge and grand pyramid that was also brimming with luxuries for the goddess of the end of time. But this time her assigned place for relaxation was a huge sea of crystal clear water that was adorned by the stars, a dark ocean which served as her personal bathtub, only the starlight could illuminate her fine, naked body relaxing in the waters.
"but how relaxing, I really deserved this"- Nif praised herself as she let the water of her space pool caress her body and pamper it with great relaxation, she could even fall asleep from such tranquility, but even she would not neglect to drown herself knowing that that was something impossible for a goddess.
"I wonder how they're having fun down there, I haven't even given myself the time to see their rotten expressions of pain and despair, it really must be beautiful"- Nif was not only enjoying a bath worthy of a goddess, but also a glass of wine, only to almost to the point of boasting about her superiority as a goddess.
"Hehe, let's see, I really can't resist to see that!"- in the middle of the huge cosmic pool, a huge holographic image acts as a kind of divine "tv", in those images, only death and despair can be found.
A city almost in ruins was left after the first attack orchestrated by one of her "daughters", the goddess of thunder Mistyk had not measured anything in her wave of destruction, she had spared no one and only unleashed her frenzy of blood.
"hahaha!!! wow, but what a violent girl, I had told her not to overdo it and to go slowly, I don't want to end my fun so soon"- posing naked over her pool, Nif feels a huge pleasure to see so much destruction and death over humans, it was a desire she had longed for a long time ago, and for that very reason, it shouldn't end so soon.
"hahahaha, what's wrong with you, you don't like the party we're throwing, don't worry, I'm going to make every one of you pieces of shit have the time of your fucking lives!!!, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!".
The laughter of pleasure on Nif's part can't be contained, every image of humans being split in two, being burned alive and even on occasion exploding from Mistyk's power, everything to her is a great show of laughter and pleasure.
Even to the point of choking on her own drink of wine.
"COF! COF! COF!!!, holy shit!!!"
Relaxing a bit after almost choking, The goddess was far from finishing her "Mischief" with humanity, only one more doubt remained at the moment.
Who would be the next of her "children" to be released?
But also with that, lay another question, more related to what Nif expected to find in his first assault against the humans.
"now let's see, it seems that none of those "rare humans" have shown up, she had already simulated several countermeasures, it would be a great pity if no one showed up to play with Mistyk"- the goddess tries another sip of her wine while her body rests on the water in a mixture of satisfaction and thoughts to carry out her next move.
"I still don't know how those humans possess those strange abilities and how they were able to kill the hordes of monsters I had sent in the past, but no doubt, it will be a lot of fun to see how they cope with other kind of monsters, hehe"- with great confidence, Nif turns to see the huge clock lying in her palace, only one of the numbers was being marked with a strange symbol, but there was no doubt of the relationship it bore with the goddess of thunder and one of the first "children", Mistyk.
"now..."
"what should we have even more fun with?"- Nif shakes his wine glass in circles, searching with that way for some more way to have fun, or just send another one of his "children".
"the ideas don't want to come out, maybe I waited so long for this moment that now I don't know how to continue it, but what a fucking dilemma"- a tired expression appears in the eyes of the goddess, finally everything had gone as she expected, but her wish not to kill humans so soon was the priority of the plan.
With her thoughts wandering all over the place, a strange event begins to invade the personal pool, a dark liquid begins to fall on the starry waters, a liquid very similar to tar or even something thicker.
(but what the hell is going on now?!?)
Nif remains serious about this situation, but in her mind, for herself, this situation was not planned and some concern can be denoted, even for a goddess as powerful as her.
The goddess jumps up to quickly summon her staff, still naked, the goddess gets into a fighting stance and without taking her eyes off the black mass which has begun to accumulate almost in a small mountain on her personal tub.
Her expression was one of seriousness, but now Nif's expression was more of displeasure and now turned to one of great rage,
"WHO THE FUCK HAS COME TO INTERRUPT MY BATH!!!????"- Being carried away by his anger, Nif begins to accumulate a large sphere of glowing power in the center of his staff, without waiting for a response to arise from the dark liquid that invades his chambers, with the simple fact of presenting himself in such a grotesque way, it is reason enough to be erased from existence by the goddess.
But the attack does not end up being sent, since another event related to the black mass occurs, this time, the strange liquid begins to contract violently, returning to its point of origin.
"huh, now what happens?!?!!"- Nif is still just as incredulous not knowing what happens now, the big mass contracted until it created a 2 meter high sphere.
Finally, the final act occurs. From the black sphere created from the mass, limbs begin to emerge and then mold into the shape of a dark body which now lies standing on the waters of the goddess.
"Dude, I don't know who you are, but that's no attitude to present yourself before a goddess, BE MORE HUMBLE AND KNEEL, ON YOUR KNEES IN THE PRESENCE OF THE GODDESS OF THE END OF TIMES!"- Nif resumes his attack, but again is interrupted when the dark shadow in the form of a human raises one of his hands in a "stop" sign.
"uh, so you understand, good boy, now stop the games and tell me what or who you are"- Nif decides to definitely stop his attempt to erase the intruder when he sees that the intruder seemed to understand the goddess, then the image of the dark shadow starts to show more of its true form and also some of its true color and appearance.
His appearance was that of a human, but he was far from being a human, just like Nif, he possessed the same extravagant features as the goddess, but in his own strange style.
His height was close to two meters, his hair was navy blue and short in bangs which could not reach his shoulders. His costume was very similar to an underwater diving suit with some metal ornaments and straps, and undoubtedly, the most striking in his appearance, were the pierced rings that were both in his ears and jaw, one which was crossed from his chin to his lip.
Deep blue eyes connected with Nif's orange eyes, finally.
"that was very uncomfortable"-are the invader's first words.
"uh, uncomfortable?"- says Nif with confusion and seriousness on his face.
"yeah, you know, being compressed without being able to move until finally all your cells and existence are formed, being born is really unpleasant, or maybe..."
The void invader slowly begins to pace over the water of Nif's clean bath as he seeks to finish his words.
"I take back the above about being born, learning to walk and talk is the really unpleasant thing, and it is very tiring"- the void invader partly ignores Nif's presence and does not pay much direct attention to the goddess nor the fact that he is now in her domain, or perhaps the most disrespectful thing he has done, other than coming to her private palace uninvited, is the fact that he is in the presence of the goddess's naked body.
With patience truly lost at the nonsensical words of his unwanted guest, Nif speaks with a much more authoritative tone, only to hope he doesn't burst out in anger at the same moment.
"I see, these are the words of a newborn who has now entered my domain and favorite master bath, and which otherwise would have no forgiveness of any kind, is the sight of my naked and perfect body..."- Nif gnashes his teeth without averting a sadistic gaze at his invader.
"so this is your palace and bath, not bad at all"- with an innocent smile, the invader gives a compliment for the architecture in Nif's palace, but even with that answer, Nif doesn't give a thank you, but, quite the opposite.
With great and monstrous speed, Nif, puts around the invader's neck his staff, just as a final warning.
"In my eyes, you are only a newborn, but you are taking too much comfort and confidence before me, little boy, now you will tell me who you really are."
With a calm smile and carefully moving the staff away from his neck, the invader finally speaks on the main topic of his visit.
"oh that's right, we still need to introduce ourselves, Let's just say I am a "watcher" for the events you have begun to unleash in the human world, that is the function for which I was created."
Nif expresses a face of confusion and also displeasure at this answer, a "watcher", it was the last thing she could expect, and even more, the worst thing that could have happened to her in her objective, to have someone to watch over her.
"It's a fucking joke, right?" exclaims Nif in an attempt not to explode in annoyance. After initiating the end of the world for humans after an endless debate of two cosmic beings, now someone has come to watch over her actions, everything seems to be a joke in bad taste, a goddess who must submit to superior forces that are above even a god. "who sent you!?"
The void invader shows an expression which does not seem to understand the question, its conception simply had a task on its mind, to observe and supervise.
The answer is very different from one that Nif would expect.
"I am unaware of that idea, there is only static in my head when you ask me that, the truth seems to be that no matter the reason, I only have one task, to oversee the end of that world you wish so much to end."
"can you give me a damn answer I can understand, starman?"
"Starman?"- the invader shows a confused look at the nickname or perhaps Name Nif has given him.
Nif moves his staff away from "Starman", losing for the moment, the desire to kill the invader of his palace, since now, all his new plans have taken a different turn, because of an unexpected intrusion, everything seems to get complicated.
(Where the fuck did all this come from, what do you mean, a vigilante, those two deformed masses still have the desire to ruin my fun, but still, why put stones in my way, why would they care about this?)
Arriving at the edge of her private pool in the emptiness and stars, Nif's servants cover her body with a robe and on her dainty feet sandals. In her head other thoughts take place, all she could try now is to understand the reason for the appearance of this "Starman", are answers which the goddess will be discovering later than ever.
"You know what, forget it, for the moment I won't ask any more questions and neither will I kill you for interrupting my bath, just do what you want, but I warn you."
Nif summons his staff for the last time to point it menacingly at Starman. "don't get between me and my fun, if your job is just to watch over me while I kill every one of those apes without a fight, just see to it that that's your job, you got that right?"
With anger at the goddess's threat, Starman now shows an expression of astonishment and interest, but not out of fear at the warning, all interest at discovering Nif's goal, the death of humans.
(she shows a passion at the slaughter of those beings, a desire she only wishes to carry out as if her life depended on it).
Muse nods her head with a smile that is even sweet, something that annoys the goddess to think that her words were not taken into account.
"but what a brat!!!"
With only those last words, Nif withdraws to his quarters inside his palace and leaving Starman in the middle of the pool of stars.
On his face Nif's threat did not seem to be taken by him, as his attention had taken as a new interest, the huge clock that lay within the same pool, the 13 hour clock continues to turn its hand, which was about to select the next hour and thus Nif's next son.
Still, something was already on his mind as well, to find out more about the goddess of the end of the world, and the desire to destroy humans.
(I'd like to know more about that desire...)
With a wide smile, the new being, baptized as Starman, only has in his existence to carry out his mission, to be the guardian of the end of the world.
