Or both, a friendly rivalry would push them both to greater heights.

Glad she shined !

Play your cards right and it might start a friendship, instead of a rivalry.

I was satisfied with her handling of the matter here. Naturally, it would have been a stupid idea to spout top-secret knowledge in a test of all things. But her tendency to undersell herself in the hopes of avoiding unpleasant attention was what prompted my reply. And as I said, it avoids both the good and the bad. So, it can be a perfectly viable strategy. But this boat has sailed already, so I would try to gain respect and positive attention as well as the unavoidable (at this point) rivalries and jealousy.

Actually, this makes me really excited for when she does talk to Qingfeng about all this properly. Both for him reveling he knows about her transmigration and her (maybe) revealing what she knows about the possible future, the Phoenix stuff, the seals and so on. It's probably still a way off, but I'd bet that conversation is coming eventually.

Erios909

The thing she hid here was impossible to know knowledge that would get her questioned. She already talked to Qingfeng about this. Check chapters 41 and 72 for a recap. She cannot let people know she has 'impossible' knowledge or she could be killed by sects and people wanting to know how she knows their secrets or things she shouldn't know. Phoenix tree that only the imperial family knows about probably is not as dangerous as knowing a sect's secret arts or golden pills, but there still would be questions about how some country noble girl has any idea about a imperial secret. She might leverage Feng Yu's connection if that's the case but she has no idea of Feng Yu knowing about it either so its in her POV a crapshoot. So this isn't random annoying 'hide my powers' stuff, this is 'let's not reveal i know things people will raze cities and murder large groups of people to keep secret' stuff.

I mean, I can sympathize. She said she has a history of being bullied & she's not familiar with the dynamics of this sect yet so it might be smart to hide. I don't think it'll go well since hiding would probably led to many questioning why she's his disciple. So lose lose either way.

It is a sometimes overused trope. Japanese light novels can get pretty aggravating with it.

Also I get annoyed of all the MCs who think hiding their abilities is the best they can do.

What did you expect when you got a perfect score? The best anyone could hope for was a tie. I wonder what plant the other girl missed? Maybe she didn't answer "unknown specimen" to the last one.

Love this story :) tftc

Biding your time and hiding your talent avoids both opportunity and problems. I think the elder might just give her more attention that way and that is better than some of her - dwindling- spirit stones ,)
