Teaching Cressi to say "Cresserton!"
🕑 Added 2024-08-18 16:06:02 +0000 UTCAs you guys saw previously, I was working on capturing "Wondi" or "Hey Wondi" from Cressi. In this video I really condense the process of capturing vocalizations and putting them on cue down for you all as I take you through teaching Cressi to say "Cresserton!" on cue.
Keep in mind, any time you are training talking it is a heightened behavior and you will want to pay attention to other things that are negatively affected by your bird being in this constant state of heightened.
Looking back, I should have trained Cressi something not talking related in between these two vocalizations instead of teaching two vocalizations back to back as it made her more likely to be aggressive with me (primarily when Monet would fly to me and Cressi was nearby.)
Still, I am really happy I captured this and think it's so cute!

I really enjoyed seeing your training process. I'm always amazed at how brilliant these birds are. Cressi is amazing! My little Charlie loves to talk. He is only a year so most of his vocalizations are done in "practice mode" when I'm not around. He is just starting to vocalize when I'm around. I do notice he can get quite heightened when he's talking to me.

Hi Joe! You’d want to say those phrases when you first enter and exit the room routinely and excitedly. That way Tweety learns them and starts to offer them!

Thanks for addressing the hightened emotional state the birds are in , when they are mimicking human's talking. I have been wondering about this. I guess I would not cue my afgrey to talk , when I am trying to desensitise him to something new / scary ( my new cordless vacuum) .

How do you get the verbalization to begin with? I’m trying to get Tweety to say hi, or hello and Good Morning. So how do you start that without a cue?
