During this time I had only brought back Zip because of her reaction to the heat out at the aviary so Zoom was still outside in the aviary at my folks property during this time.

My bird does everything with me, except for cooking. She's a nosey Goffins, and has to be a part of whatever is going on around our house. :).

Birds do seem to love "helping" prepare food. Maybe it feels like foraging with a flock mate.

I let mine accompany when I’m cleaning up the kitchen and doing other things that don’t involve having the stove on. Mine are super nosy. Haven’t been able to get them used to the Swiffer duster… they still think it’s some demented, misshapen yellow demon that’s out to get them, even after 5 years…

You mentioned that you weren't making any adjustments while chopping. Zip didn't seem bothered by the sound of the chopping. She definitely showed a lot of curiosity. In school, a student who is curious, is likely to learn as a result of that curiosity. I believe this was true for Zip. Zip was not fearful about approaching the bowl to try nibbles of the carrots and the celery. I also noticed that when you walked away a couple of times, she didn't become anxious. She was engaged in her exploration. (I realize that it was a short time that you were away.) Totally unrelated, I love your sweater. 😊
