How do you deal with hurt feelings when your birds are in a bad mood? I really appreciate how you make space for us as trainers or handlers to have feelings hurt -- I think I first heard you talk about this after Capri got bitten, and it helped me to put words to feelings I can have sometimes, where we want our animals to be friends with us and be kind to us, and when that doesn't happen we take it personally. What do you try to do to move on and reset (both yourself and your bird) in that situation?

Wait, I know some types of parakeets have a bluffing phase when getting into adulthood (after one or few years since hatching), could it be that Berry is bluffing right now? It almost reminds me of teenage tantrums saying the worst things like “YOU ARE THE WORST MOM EVER YOU ALWAYS TELL ME WHAT TO DO AHHHHHHHHH”, if only she knew how silly she looks when being grumpy. I wonder if berry is better when the cage is not in sight, my African Grey used to get mildly territorial, eliminating the cage from the space when he’s out was a very good choice!
