I consider trick training as a potent play therapy tool, as long as you keep the vibe playful- it has a huge potential for both bond building and for therapeutic purposes. In real life my trick training is not the best with birds, I usually stick to capturing behaviors, but I would really love to strengthen my trick training since I see SO MUCH potential in this playful exercises (it is even a goal of mine). Did you know play therapy can be very effective in recovering from trauma in some animals and in children (and adults too)? So when having animal assisted a fun playful session, the therapeutic effects are beneficial for both sides (trainer and Pet Animal), as long as a playful attitude is present (and especially when the game is suited to deal with a certain issue, fear or triggers in a fun playful environment), it is a win win situation! PLAY IS THE WAY! (My inner geek got over excited hahahah, training tricks is a very good idea in my book)
