Oh Flock - Blueberry and Dave!
🕑 Added 2022-09-21 15:00:08 +0000 UTCWhen we take road trips, we try to be super mindful about when we let Blueberry out and ensure we can get her back in her travel carrier easily (and on her own will) but SOMETIMES, unforeseen circumstances happen where we have to get her in at a time she is not willing and under those times, it has been Dave who has caught her and put her in. Because of this, she has become really untrusting of Dave and hand-shy around him specifically so Dave decided to start working with Blueberry at home on this.

You know how some young children get into fight or flight mode whenever the parents are rushing? I feel like birds tend to do this too, I think that the situation seems more unpredictable when rushing. Rushing can be that little bit of stress that gets things done for the adult human but makes children/animals a little bit more resistant to participation.

Thank you for letting us know that you guys also have "those times" where you just have to get a bird from point A to point B in a hurry. Birds always seem to know when it's a rush and they never follow the standard training protocol.

I’ve had the same issue with my parakeet. Bedtime isn’t a problem. He gets the routine and goes to his cage when I start putting his buddy to bed. I used to get him to fly to the other room and then turned lights out behind him. He caught on fast. I don’t think I could get him in during the day. I just leave him out. Something I would never trust with my other flock members. He will come to me with millet but fly away when he figures things out. Smart little guys.
