My uneducated guess is that you shouldn’t worry about it right now, since you’re just starting him on a new path you gonna have at least two/three months before you may want to start thinking about introducing the next recipe with new ingredients.

No offense at all, my Pip is just a baby that I have been working on weening so I am trying to be very consistent with her that is why I was confused. I am for sure not complaining just curious. We also have a warm climate in Israel (located in the middle east) but I’ve been feeding seasonally any way because it is more interesting and healthier for my bird. We feed winter now, we about to go Spring in few weeks! :) it’s really warm here already but we still have few fall-winter baggies in our fridge that we don’t want to waste. For me the point is to make sure to rotate ingredients because I believe it is better to rotate ingredients every once in a while from a health stand point, our bodies and the plant’s coping mechanism are made so we have to rotate what we eat every season, so we don’t over feed on one plant and so it can continue regrow in its next life cycle, if I understand it is super nice that the veggies will be in season but what is really important is the rotation (so we don’t over feed on one ingredient for too long). If you ordered one product and got something else you might want to reach customer service, I don’t know what are the rules in the US but I know where I live that you should get the product you ordered, unless you agreed to get something else in case what you ordered is not in stock. I know that probably wouldn’t mind having the winter SFS but for example my mother probably would be the kind of person to reach out customer service.

So fortunate to have cold pressed pellets in your location! Honestly there’s nothing to worry about when the pellet is made of high quality bioavailable ingredients.

Hi Angie, We go by a more typical seasonal atmosphere (to us, Florida is practically summer year round, lol, we were just there). But February in general is definitely a winter season which is why you are still receiving the winter blend. We will switch seasons in late March to the spring blend. Here is the typical season rotation we go by: spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), autumn (September, October, November) and winter (December, January, February).

I've had to do this. On one-off, I do a large portion of pellets then when I get home and then give seasonal feeding if it's not too late. But my bird's schedule is 10:30 pm to 10:30 am due to my husband and I's the work schedule.

I was surprised when my order came in for seasonal feeding that it was winter formula and maybe that's been address because I know your guises systems have been down for your machine so I don't know if I should just hold that back until the fall because being a Florida, we are by far already in spring summer weather here

Hello all, just wanted to throw out there, that I had asked my vet about the feeding question, as I go visit my sister about once a month or so for a couple days, and his advice was to hands down just feed pellets for the day or couple of days I would be gone, and then go immediately back to my regular fresh food and pellets schedule when I return. He is the very best avian vet in my area, and that is what I have been doing for the last 3 years, and it has worked beautifully. All birds check out amazing at their annual vet visits. =)

And make sure when you place a foraging bowl for the firs few times, to sprinkle some pellets visibly on the top of the shredded stuff, so it is obvious that there’s more in there

The second question! I would probably do a foraging bowl in one place in the caging with pallets and cardboard pieces/brown paper/toy parts/etc to capitalize on enrichment while I’m gone so my bird is not being bored when I am gone and pissy when I come back home, and fresh food in the other dish, both perfectly portioned (if I’d need to choose which one to feed less off id do 60% dry food/40% fresh food) I might even top the fresh food with flax seed (or nut crumbs in case I am not doing training that day) or soaked sesame to entice the bird to eat the fresh food first (might even do it in a way that my bird sees the flax being added, put bowl in cage>>sprinkle flax>>say goodbye)

Well, the two macaws don’t do well separately (they lived together for 20+ years before coming into my care). So that leaves me with my male sulfur crested too or my female eclectus.

When I was about to finish the summer batch of SFS and already made a Fall-winter batch, I kept the las portion baggie of summer and used it on days I wanted to mix things up. I would personally keep them separate so things are more exciting for my bird since ( like I’d just surprise him every other week with a meal or few that has a completely different flavor pallet than what we have for the rest of the season)

It’s a shame, most people who don’t free fly really only use crate training to go to the vet I’d say. So most people have no idea what will have the biggest impact. I know I don’t, yet.

A super large portion, even if they gorge themselves or turn to dust should maintain them still just based on the pure quantity of it all. But that’s only my experience with my own birds and I haven’t tested that theory in quite a while!

I think that would be safe to say - because crate training plays such an important role too right? It’s kind of evaluating what parts of the day are going to take the biggest toll on the bird.

I can’t attend a masterclass unfortunately, I am in the wrong country. However, I just wanted to point out that a lot of people only really see the behaviour of their bird at home. I’m going to be testing out my birds at a family members house, but I’m one of the lucky ones. So would you say that, when deciding which bird to bring to a masterclass, you should try your birds in a new environment to see which one works best?

Great answers. Birds that shut down...like a sun conure that had never been away from her sister before or been in such an open space? 🤦🏼‍♀️ I still have nightmares of that day. Thankfully we all lived and I've learned so much from that day.

Lol can’t hire anybody because trust issues and don’t like people I’ve given just pellets for all day and if I check in (cancelled plans etc), they’ve turned them all into powder by noon so idk?
