Awe I use to have the sweetest male eclectus named Chico. So, I was so excited to see you working with this lil girl!💜 I just got a 35yr old totally neglected African grey last week. I can now pet her, but still can't her to step up on to anything even. I can now slowly give her head scratches though yayyy lol! I'm worried though, as we have a family of 5 coming for Thanksgiving & I know it's gonna probably scare her!? But I also know that rolling her cage into our spare bedroom that she's never been in & hearing everyone in the other room will also scare her tooo. SO, my question is....... What would Jesus do lol....I mean, what would Jamie do!?!?🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😋 All kidding aside, I really am truly worried about her & doing what's best for her? Thank youuu for taking the time to care too! I can't imagine being either one of you lol. You must have wonder twin powers of some sort to be able to keep up with everything daily! I don't value any other advice either darn it lol.🙃

I'd say the rule of thirds probably applies to you there - where 1 out of every 3 should be a win and not a fail. We will likely go through this in our new course we will be filming this winter in detail.

This is brilliant! How much of this behavior would you want to see from her before you started pushing her further? I would say my parrot is at the same level as Fennell but I think I sometimes push her too far which leads to backtracking as she gets fearful, are there any rules here? Any advise so welcome

I absolutely LUV seeing how slow Fennel's training takes, because I think this happens with many birds, and we don't always see this "real" side as often. We know not all birds learn as quickly as others, and this shows how patience and taking your time at the bird's pace will pay off! My Indian Ringneck moves so slowly with training, and I did not think we would ever make progress, but then we do! And it is SO rewarding when we do! A little more so than with the others I think cuz we had to work so hard for it! LOL!Jaimie is so patient with her, and so encouraging for the rest of us! Keep up the amazing work!

One great thing about low energy birds like Fennel is that you don't have to worry so much about what they are up to. I had an elderly cockatiel that was always right where you left him. It was so easy to care for him and have him out of his cage because he could be trusted. One difference is that he would always step up and was always affectionate. He loved attention. Fennel will get there too. I wonder if she wasn't handled much by the breeder.
