Oh Flock | Face biting (ut-oh!)

So you guys get to see what I saw for the first time. You can probably all see that Capri had the cutest of intentions with this trick but what she did wrong was everything in my last Oh Flock episode that I said I had changed for success.
If you are going to train your bird to "kiss" your face, it should really be a lean in (like Bandit used to lean his face against mine, no open beak). You want to be able to read the proper intention of your bird. As you can see, even with the smallest of parrots this can be painful when trained wrong.
Capri did not realize that although you can train out the aggression in targeting, it is not something you want to "train out" (ie shape) when it comes to bird to human body parts touching.
I wanted to share this as an extra episode because I felt like it was a pretty easy mistake to make. And you guys can now see why Blueberry is a regular on Oh Flock...

The very last thing you said in this video was probably the most important thing to get across to her. It's got be hard to have parents that know EVERYTHING when it comes to parrots.😉 Tell Capri we've got her back and we'll continue to show her mom and dad how "horrible" WE are and she shines even when things derail in her attempts. 😂 That little girl has more knowledge in her pinky than a lot of people I've seen making a living working with birds. The fact she saw kissing the cheek as a trick is pretty awesome. The rest is a result of a combo of her age/development and Budgie ADHD/manipulation expertise...but you know that. Which is why you said that last line. Love this family!!!❤️ You guys rock!

Birds like to nip cheeks. I've seen them do it to each other as correction or light bulling/show of dominance. I wonder if Blue has some jealousy regarding attention Jamie gives to Capri? A little sibling rivalry?

She is too cute! I swear we have twins, my 7 year old is EXACTLY the same way, tries to sneak off and train, and ends up with something not quite how she planned lol 😂 And the bites hurt their feelings more than anything! Capri is awesome, she’s trying so hard! U can see how proud she is of Blue 🤗

So... with my Senegal, I am training "kiss" but I am training it as I touch his closed beak with my lips. I don't encourage him to open his beak but rather, let me touch his beak to my lip and he leans in. Is that correct? Do you disagree with training a kiss in general? Just curious.
