I love Harris Hawks because of their social hunting style (the feminism side of me is smug that it’s usually one female in charge and a bunch of males 😏). Animal Wonders Montana did a video on her Harris Hawk and the best part is when Hara the Harris Hawk makes the purring sound that communicates to Jessie that she’s part of her pack! Which reminds me: Birdtricks needs to visit Animal Wonders again! They have so many parrots that you didn’t feature in your collab.

this is so interesting, as an animal lover, it’s so intriguing to me to see people who actually take their time to study their animals of choice 😅, I find many ‘dog and cat people’ rushing into physical touch and silly sounds with all animals without knowing that they like it or not, and it is so awesome to see people who connect with those animals and tune in on their level. AMAZING

This is so interesting! I’m so curious about what goes into the training. I love how he says it goes beyond “training style”, that it’s more of an ongoing relationship “part of the family”. Just picturing a beautiful creature like that choosing to interact with humans is amazing. Did he explain what the hood is for? Why do they cover their eyes, and does the bird dislike it at all? In the video you posted he seems like he was just chillin on his perch and didn’t mind. I just picture that causing all kinds of anxiety in a parrot!
