Many species pluck hormonally based on the seasons - you can look into a hormonal implant or look closer at your environment for triggers and look at your foundations as well and see if sleep or diet changes around those times.

Always good and informative video! I am a dog trainer by profession but a new bird owner. I can relate to so many things you said with dogs. Would love to see more video like this.... My question would be working on exposer..... How much is too much.... I have a 10 months old quaker. Got him about a month ago... been target training etc.... but I have a hard time working him on tables or anywhere outside a perch. I want to be able to have him with me when the summer months comes on walk in the wood etc... planing on harness train him.... definitely more trust to be gain at the moment. I am a trick trainer and want him to learn all sorth of things. Want him to be socially ok with new situation etc. I do demos with my dogs and I would possibly incorporate him into them..... What are the steps.... That would be what I would love to see..... Your training from zero to a show bird. I know it's a lifestyle but there is training involve in there too. I use to tour Canada with my dogs and perform stunt dogs. I know its a life style lol! Anyway love your video. I have learn so much :)

Another question. You mentioned in one of the YouTube videos that we shouldn't cover our bird's cages in order to give them 12 plus hours of sleep. Why is this?

Hmm. We don't personally use them so I am not sure we would do a tutorial on it, I know there are some by Parrot Wizard out there. But if it came up we may consider it. We just aren't a fan of a lot of the designs on the market.

Not sure what your thoughts are on using harnesses but I'm interested in harness training. Is there any chance of you going through how to harness train a parrot? I'm not in the position at this time to free fly my parrot but taking her outside with a harness would be an awesome alternative.

Glad you liked this style of video, Beckie! Probably won't be doing another for a bit. But to answer you about Jinx... Morgan, Tusa and Comet are all the same species of macaw. Jinx being a blue throat is why he has the redness moreso than they do. They can still become flushed sometimes but it is not as obvious in their species. xo

Yes more videos like this. My question has to do with Jinx. I noticed he has some redness around his beak. The vividness of the red seems to change over time. Is this change related to hormones? Tusa, Comet, and Morgan don’t seem to share this same feature from what I can tell. Also, can you spend some time talking about behavioral differences between blue-throated macaws and blue and gold macaws? I don’t have any birds but have become fascinated by watching your channel.

Thank you for answering our many (especially mine even when I went overboard 😂) questions! I feel you on that whistling front, I haven’t gotten my cockatiels yet but they’re just going to have to settle for music on the iPhone! Cressi and Dave are so sweet together, as you said in some videos, it’s disgusting, haha. It was adorable that they would complete each other’s wolf whistle on one of your Family Friendly Parrot videos. We will never know that experience. 😭

Follow up question... what lighting are you using in the garage? Fluorescent? LED? I ask because I’m going to add lighting for my bird but don’t know if LED strobes at a rate birds can see. Would be interested in knowing what you use and if you saw any behavior changes as a result.

Love your stuff! How do you acclimate your flock to colder temps. We have a lot of "natural" light but windows have "low e filter" so not full spectrum. Would like to be able to take outside more often.

Thank you Thank you! This was super fun! Glad to hear my sprouting craze is a really good thing! I sprout a ton of different kinds of seeds each week it's actually how I got my Ringneck to take to chop! Maybe you should do a sprouting video I have a lot of people tell me they are scared to sprout.
