Hmm, a typical timeframe I am not sure exists. With our budgie we made areas for her to get herself to since she was clipped so she learned within a few days or week. Other birds maybe a couple weeks since they start off being able to fly and learn "crap, how did I get here and how do I get down" lol.

This is great stuff! How long is “typical” for them to realize safe places to land inside? Like not door and window frames. We try to intercept but our ceilings are 9 feet high and he flies high usually. He is doing good going from stand to us and back but the bad landings are rough to watch.

This is the video we needed. My son got his first bird 2 days ago. An 8 week old cockatiel. My son is 9 and already babies her. 😐 Right now we are working on flight training her because she is very much a Velcro bird and she won’t stop flying to my head. So thank you for this video.
