Time To Wreck Some Cars
🕑 Added 2022-01-22 18:37:00 +0000 UTCHere's a fun thing to look at: The new damage and deformation effects!
The particle effects are pretty basic, but the main attraction is the deformation, anyway.
Now, you may wonder what's so special about it, since I've already had mesh deformation in the game, for building damage... Truth is, it's mostly the same system, yes. However, one thing that I didn't have to worry about for the buildings was "flattening."
Currently, when you stomp a building in the game, there will simply be no deformation at all. That's because I wanted to avoid buildings being shoved below ground level, since every time you would punch/stomp it downwards, it would get moved lower and lower.
The same thing would happen for the cars, but not deforming a car when stomping it wasn't an option, of course: So I had to extend the deformation system to limit deformations against a plane, so things would get squashed/flattened, instead.
...turns out, that was a bit of a hassle to implement. But after completely ruining my sleep schedule the past two days, I'm very happy with the results!
Thanks for your support!
