Dev sneak peeks
🕑 Added 2024-10-11 18:23:11 +0000 UTCHello dear Patrons,
Today I bring you some sneak peeks of what's currently in development for the next update:
First, I've been rewriting the code for the combat system to make it more dynamic. Previously it was very dependant on the dialogues system for the combat turns to proceed.
Now it will be fully independant and dynamic, this makes the combat more fast paced.
Another reason for this rewrite and to make it more dynamic is so that the system is escalable, such as adding skills that can affect multiple targets, specially in preparation for the introduction of the magic system.
If you take a closer look at the first screenshot, you can notice a couple new elements:
There is now a small UI on the top left that logs the combat moves. This replaces the usage of the dialogue system and is what makes the combat more fast paced.
Second, if you take a look closer on the Spider, you can see there's a number floating, that's the damage you just did with your attack. Of course this can only be noticed when playing than on a screenshot, but the idea is that now the damage is displayed as floating text particles when you hit a target.
The second screenshot showcases a new UI displaying the combat results after the battle is over, this makes the combat more unique by unifying your combat rewards in one place.
The last screenshot is a sketch of the Nightclub finally getting it's own entrance location. I had been wanting to add this for a while since it felt off just entering the nightclub right from the backalley. So this will make a nice addition to the game.
We're also working on the next event for the main story, so I will be showing some of the progress on the next sneak peek post soon.
That's all I have for now, feel free to leave your feedback on the comments about these changes!
Thanks as always for your support!

Similar to the above, would it be possible to put keyboard shortcuts in for the combat system? I find the fights annoying because of the amount of times I have to run the mouse down and hit the attack button. The above suggestion would work too but I'd also like a set of "zxc" shortcuts for the attack options, if possible, then maybe 1-2-3 for picking the target.

That's a great idea!

I have a smol suggestion: make default click on enemy default attack so there is no need to go press attack button and only then click on enemy
