The Mine

Tom Granger had been a miner for nearly thirty years, and the weight of the earth above had long become a familiar comfort. He knew the tunnels of Ravenwood Mine better than he knew his own home. But that fateful day, when his pickaxe struck something strange in the deepest, most forgotten shaft, everything changed.
The stone he uncovered was unlike any he'd ever seen, smooth, black as night, with veins of red running through it like blood. As he chipped away at it, a dense, sulfuric mist seeped from the cracks. Tom recoiled, coughing as the air around him thickened, his skin prickling with a heat that didn’t come from the earth. Then, the ground trembled.
Out of the mist, something emered, something monstrous. Eyes burned like embers from a face of shadow and flame. The creature stood tall, towering over Tom, its presence oppressive, as if the weight of the entire mine pressed against his chest.
"You have woken me," the demon rumbled, its voice scraping through the air like a landslide. "Now, you will serve me, or be consumed."
Tom backed away, but the darkness around him seemed to close in, trapping him. The demon moved with slow deliberation, a clawed hand reaching out, sinking not into Tom’s flesh, but into his soul. A coldness filled him, like ice spreading through his veins.
"You will bring me others. I hunger for their souls. And in return, you will have your strength again. Fail me, and you will rot with the worms."
The words were a command, and Tom felt them sear into his mind, binding him to the demon’s will. His body, already worn from years of labor, began to break down, his skin grew pale, his muscles weakened, and a deep sickness settled in his bones. Each day felt like a step closer to the grave.
But when he led his first victim into the depths of the mine, something changed. The men he lured down trusted him after all, Tom had always been one of them. But as the demon claimed them, their terrified screams echoing through the dark, Tom felt something stir within himself. A flicker of vitality coursed through him, something dark and unnatural, but undeniably powerful. The pain in his joints eased, his breath came easier. His strength was returning, he was no longer impotent.
The demon fed on their souls, and with each one it consumed, Tom’s body grew more lustful. It was subtle at first, a little erection would happen randomly. But as the weeks passed and more miners disappeared into the earth, Tom became something else. His skin, once pallid and gray, regained its color. His muscles, once withered were now bigger than ever, even his penis swelled with new power. But it was not the strength of a man, it was something darker, something stolen.
The more the demon fed, the more Tom felt its power surging through him. His senses sharpened, his endurance became nearly superhuman, and he could feel the pulse of the mine as if the earth itself was a living thing beneath his feet. Yet with each soul he delivered to the demon, a gnawing hunger of his own began to grow. It wasn’t just the demon that needed to be fed.
At night, Tom would lie awake, his mind clawing at itself, wrestling with the horror of what he had become. He was no longer just a miner, no longer just a man. He was a servant of the demon, a predator among his own kind. And yet, the power that surged through him, the strength that filled his veins was intoxicating, it made him aroused, it was a curse that won’t make him feel satisfied no matter how many times he came, he needed something more. The demon’s curse had become his lifeblood.
Each time he descended into the mine with new souls to sacrifice, a part of him died. But another part, the part that the demon had awakened, thrived. His body was no longer his own, but it was stronger than it had ever been, and deep down, he feared that even if the demon let him go, he would never be the man he once was. The lust would remain.
Tom had become something twisted, something born of the dark, a man whose strength returned with every soul lost, yet whose heart grew colder with every step he took deeper into the earth. The mine had claimed him, body and soul. Now, he was the demon’s pet, he would toy with him knowing how much he wanted a release, the demon allowed him to hear the moans of the other miners but never to watch, Tom was losing his mind and with each new life he brought to feed the creature, he felt the pull of that dark lust within him growing stronger. He feared the day when the demon would no longer need him, for he knew by then, he might lust for souls just as much as it did.
