The stroke Of Midnight

See, she has been banished in the past but it's never permanent. It's cthulhu mythos rules, she can't truly ever die. She just bids her time until she tries again. However, she is trying much sooner than she should be able to. By a few years. The battle before this was with demons who were trying to steal treasure and the traveler, but were repelled by the combined forces of our heroes. I had originally planned it to be an epic fight that would play out like a game of Baldur's gate/D&D. But it just was....so much work. As for your questions about how ink, who *was* trapped in a previous episode: it's a manifestation of Treasure's self doubt and feelings of weakness/uselessness compared to The Traveler (who is canonically a sorcerer who can inherently defend themselves). Ink literally planted the seed that is now growing and can spread.

Warning, theory rambling ahead: Wait... does anyone else get the feeling that Jolene or whoever is trying to wake her, is giving limited information to her servants? I mean Greddryr seems pretty confident he's going to die where as Ink here is quite confident the the team will lose, he has no real reason to lie to her if the purpose Is to scare and break her hope and spirit, and the ultimate goal is seemingly kill her to create some pathway for Jolene to come back. Bonus points if traveler and Alkethium (I hope that's how you spell it) die so they can't interfere any more. ALSO, how the fuck is she talking to treasure if she supposedly been banished like two episodes ago, though it can be questioned whether or not that really happened beacuse it was never mentioned in the battles aftermath and was interrupted.... but that seems pretty negligent of both Emaddi, her fucking possesive dragon dad, who seems to want to set flame to anyone who would hurt his precious baby, Alkethium, who's duty is essentially protecting these so called, children of fate, and not to mention the ever attentive Theodore A Bear. (You know, except in this moment. It's ok baby I don't blame you.) So is she infected by the travler because of their strange connection? Is it just Ink being a bastard and doing mind shit, also isn't he stuck in a jar or something...? So many questions!!! (Feel free to ignore my rambling, when I get excited over a series, I can't help but to theory craft and figure out how everything works )

SO 👏 GOOD 👏 SO 👏 MEAN 👏 I love the nasty badman so muuuuuuch

The stroke Of Midnight

Absolutely. I honestly love using Ink as a mental health awareness check, as well as making him relevant to the plot

While this audio is not my usual cup of tea I listened to it for the TSOM plot. I think this audio describes depression and self doubt very well. While we can get through bad times one step at a time, the bad thoughts are always going to be there in the back of our heads weather we like it or not. It's a constant struggle to get through.

Would you believe i improvised this? Honestly, I wasn't sure how to tag this. Please take care of yourself!

ZerokiWolf

This was very well written, incredibly well performed, and you nailed the eerie feeling spot on. With that being said: I don't think I can ever listen to this audio again. I think the writer snatched the Clinical Depression personification that I've had living in my head for like the last 10+ years to inspire this Incubus. That [Mean Speaker] tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting here 😆 Imma go drink some water and make sure I take my meds. Woah.

The stroke Of Midnight

I need to edit that this was improvised, ah! It didn't save everything for me

BlackViolet

This was fantastic! Delightfully eerie. Bravo to our author
