A Cosmic Rendition: Chapter 2

When her mother had called her the previous day, she had no idea she would be asked to do this. Gotham was almost unrecognizable.
The island was isolated off the south coast, closer to the Caribbean than the American mainland. She had taken a jet to the ARGUS base right outside the city of Gotham, where Nick Fury would meet her.
“So, what’s happened here actually?” Natasha asked as she walked with Agent Coulson, Fury’s second-in-command and an expert in espionage.
“The city was on lockdown, and believe me, it was serious. No one could enter or leave, and we couldn’t risk sending any drones or other spies in. We did the best we could, given the situation.”
“Yeah, mother told me all of that already, but what exactly happened here?”
Coulson sighed before he started explaining how the city had been taken over and how there had been a massive risk to the entire island. People dying and being kept locked in, the ground caving, fields exploding and causing massive casualties. Natasha listened to it all in horrified fascination, all the while wondering just what Bruce was doing during all of this.
“Mr Wayne tried all he could. After Dent’s death, he went off the grid, and it took him a lot of time to get back into the heat of the action. He was joined by another one. A former criminal who goes by the alias Catwoman. Together, they managed to defeat this Bane and got rid of the bomb.”
Natasha filed the information away, intending to dig up everything on this Catwoman.
“And what was done with the culprit? This Bane?”
Coulson smiled. “Bane was not the mastermind behind the attack. He was more of a general. The entire plan was concocted by Talia al Ghul, Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter in her quest for revenge. You know the bad blood between Mr Wayne and Ra’s al Ghul, right? I personally prepared that report to be sent to S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Natasha nodded. She vividly recalled reading up on it a few years ago.
“We’re here,” Coulson remarked as they came to a stop in front of a large metallic door with the logo of S.H.I.E.L.D. and ARGUS side by side. The door slid open, and they entered to find an intimidating man with a black eyepatch over one eye looking at them from where he was sitting straight on his chair.
“Agent Coulson, Agent Romanoff.”
“Director,” they intoned respectfully. Fury nodded at Coulson, who bowed his head slightly and walked out of the room. The door slid shut behind him.
“Have a seat, Agent Romanoff,” Fury bid Natasha, who sat down on a chair and looked at him.
“Your mother informed me that you would be arriving here. She also told me what you intend to do here.”
Natasha nodded. “That’s good then. I’d like to start as soon as I can.”
Nick Fury looked at her resolute face for a moment with a frown. Natasha stared back with equal measure; her hands clasped together in her lap as she sat straight.
“You are aware of the reports we have sent? We have tried to approach Mr Wayne for years now, ever since he came back to Gotham, but we have been rebuffed, not too gently I might add, every single time. You truly believe you can succeed even after all of this?”
Natasha shrugged. “We won’t know if we don’t try.”
Fury sighed. “Alright then. I have asked for my sources to dig up some information, and it is my understanding that Mr Wayne would be in a pub he owns in the centre of Gotham tonight. You may start then.”
Natasha nodded, smiling internally. A pub will give her the perfect atmosphere to try her charm on the man. If he was still how he had been back when they were young, she knew she was going to succeed. She could only hope his time since his parents’ murder hadn’t taken away everything that made him the Bruce that she knew.
As she said her farewell to Nick Fury and walked out of his office towards the room allotted to her, she thought about her mother’s plans.
Diana Kent had decided to form a special team to combat forces beyond the capabilities of a regular group of agents and had conveyed the names to a select few. The plan had been a few years in the making, but she had started taking the first steps recently. One of the names at the top had been Bruce.
Natasha remembered Mr Wayne, Bruce’s father, who had governed ARGUS for years before he had been killed by some extremists along with his wife in front of his son. Bruce had not been the same since then. They had been childhood friends, always close, but Bruce had pulled away from everyone when his parents were killed.
She vividly recalled how he had rather coldly told her mother not to approach him anymore after she had visited Wayne Manor to pay her condolences. She didn’t express it, but Natasha knew her mother was hurt. However, try as she might, Natasha couldn’t blame Bruce for it.
However, years passed and Bruce had changed. His rage at S.H.I.E.L.D. had quelled down, and he had expressed his apologies to Fury and her mother, but he had outright declined to join S.H.I.E.L.D. in any manner.
The two had met with him back when he had failed to prevent the deaths of Rachel and Dent. He had painted himself as the villain, giving the people of Gotham hope in return. Very few people were aware of the truth, herself included. She recalled her mother telling her how she, her father, Nick Fury, and Bruce had met after the incident, wherein Bruce had declined to join either S.H.I.E.L.D. or ARGUS immediately after being offered a position.
That was the last time Batman was seen for a while.
The famed Caped Crusader, as he had been nicknamed by a few, had made his return a few months ago when the newest conflict began. She had seen a little footage of the carnage that had engulfed Gotham in the past month or two.
The city had been taken over, with all external communications to the mainland cut off. Harvey Dent’s truth and the innocence of Batman had been revealed to destroy public morale. Whoever was behind the aggression was someone with knowledge aplenty. Even ARGUS could not coordinate with the hellicarrier. The only thing they knew was to refrain from taking any drastic measures as the aggressors had warned that they would blow the island up if any external force tried to intrude.
Heavy artillery massacred everything in sight, blowing up buildings and monuments. Arson was rampant, and the fumes could have been seen even from outside the city. All ARGUS and Nick Fury could do was try to covertly send any people they could to survey the situation and provide as much help as possible given the perilous circumstances that surrounded Gotham. Even most of those operations failed, with agents returning aggravated.
When the incident was over and she had seen the videos gathered, and heard the public announcement by Bane, the man with the metal mask over his face and his bald head shining under the sun, she had been trying to come up with any way to analyse how the fight will go or how she would’ve acted in different circumstances.
Watching Bruce and the woman who could only be this famed Catwoman fighting together clued her in. It was quite apparent that the two were attracted to each other, and after a few months now, it wouldn’t surprise her if they were already together. She had been filled with jealousy when she had seen the picture of the pair in a restaurant, but a part of her could not help but strive to go and grab him for herself, never to let go.
Her mother was correct. She had never let another man get close to her. Any who tried went back with either a sound rejection or a broken wrist if they did not understand words. It was that voice inside her that urged her to not lose hope, that it did not matter if he was seeing someone else. She could still be with him.
Natasha sighed as she finally walked inside her room to get some sleep before her mission that would begin in a few hours. Locking the door, she stripped naked and padded over to the bed before burrowing herself under the covers, her clothes scattered all over the floor as she closed her eyes and fell into a few hours of restful sleep.

Natasha looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled. She had picked a silver dress that clung to her slender figure perfectly, falling to her mid-thigh. It hung from her shoulders by thin straps that covered her lace bra straps. The dress emphasized her natural curves, her full tits, her slim waist, and dipping to give a glimpse of her cleavage without being too scandalous. Her hair fell down her shoulders in waves, covering her back as she applied her lipstick.
She was to go solo and meet up with Bruce, who was expected to be in the club already. Her eyes found her escort for the evening, a rather good-looking agent who was professional enough to keep his eyes where they belonged and not ogle her like some amateur. S.H.I.E.L.D. employed the best, and such self-control was the least one could expect from an agent.
Soon, they made it to the club. She was well aware of the glances she was garnering from both sexes alike, and she expertly ignored them. It wasn’t the first time she was being subjected to such. The line was fairly short, and it didn’t take long for them to enter the club.
She was glad that she had avoided a coat and was clad only in her dress. Outside, it was warm, but inside, it was even hotter. She could feel the sweat inching to pour out of her, and she wasn’t even in the thick of it yet.
It was dark inside, with purple and blue lights flickering all over. She saw people dancing in the middle, with seats and small tables scattered to the side of the dance floor. A raised dais surrounded it, filled with more seats and tables. The bar was right opposite the entrance, at the far end, and she saw a few people occupying the stools.
“You may leave if you want to. Don’t wait for my call. I’ll make my way back on my own.”
The agent with her nodded, before handing her a small button.
“This is a modified tracker that Director Fury asked me to give you in case I had to go away. New protocols.”
“And Fury couldn’t tell me himself?” She asked with a sigh as she took the button and put it inside her purse.
“With your leave, Ma’am.”
Natasha nodded as the man dismissed himself and walked further inside the club, her eyes searching for her target.

On the very far end adjacent to the bar, a couple sat leisurely. The woman was sitting sideways in the man’s lap, who was softly caressing her bare thighs.
“What’s your fascination with my legs?” Selina Kyle asked with a smile as she looked at the smug visage of her boyfriend.
“You really need to ask?” Bruce Wayne deadpanned.
“What can I say? A girl likes to her some compliments sometimes. God knows you suck at those,” she retorted.
“Hey, I take offence to that.”
Selina nodded noncommittally, her eyes travelling all over the dance floor searching for something.
“You’re still hung up on that idea?”
Selina smirked as she pecked Bruce on the lips.
“Tell me you don’t find it hot. Tell me you’re not interested and I’ll stop.”
Bruce Wayne was many things, but what he was not, was a moron. His girlfriend wanted to bring another hot woman into their bed, and he wasn’t such an idiot that he would deny her.
It had been a surprise in the beginning when Selina admitted to him that she was bisexual. It hadn’t changed anything between them. Their budding relationship was going smoothly, and they had been sexually very active ever since they got together.
However, it was a few weeks later that she came up to him with this idea. The thought of adding another woman to their equation was something that both excited him as well as filled him with apprehension. After all, he knew how shallow some of those women in Gotham were. Wayne was not a regular name on the island, and it came with both its positives and negatives.
Bruce had agreed to have another woman in their bed; however, he had declined to have anything more than a physical relationship. Selina had agreed that they will not include another woman they both didn’t find worthy enough to be a part of their trio.
Ever since he had agreed, she had been restless until it had boiled over. She had all but dragged him to the club and promptly plopped herself in his lap like she normally did. Scott, the bartender, had simply given him an amused smirk before putting down their regulars in front of them.
Since then, Selina had been enjoying herself while looking around the club for a woman who she found attractive enough to join them for the night. Meanwhile, Bruce was simply busy enjoying having such a beauty in his lap. Her lovely tits were right in front of his face, her cleavage prominently displayed which his eyes feasted on. “You stay here and continue. I’ll go see what he wants.”
Selina chuckled before looking at him sultrily. She pushed herself flush against him and breathed into his ear. “I’ll find someone, and take her to our bedroom. You can join us after you’re done with whatever there is. Sounds good?”
Bruce smirked, “Sounds awesome. See you later then.”
He kissed her and pulled away. He walked up the stairs at the side of the bar, nodding at Scott who nodded back and came to a stop on the terrace.
“Time to see what Gordon wants then,” he muttered, quickly donning his suit and mask, his eyes fixed on the signal hovering in the air.

Natasha had just sat down on the barstool when she felt someone take a seat to her right. She looked over and expertly kept her expression in check when she saw who it was. She ordered her drink and ignored the raven-haired beauty who seemed to be checking her out every so often.
“Can I help you, miss?”
“Selina Kyle,” she smiled, her hand extended in front of her.
“Natasha Romanoff,” Natasha shook her hand gently. No need to give her a fake name when she was going to come clean soon anyway. However, she was slightly surprised but quickly understood the woman’s intentions when her fingers lingered on her hand as they pulled away.
‘Need to engage her in a conversation. Just to be sure though. She’s the direct ticket to Bruce. I don’t see him with her.’
Ignoring the information she had received, and assuming Bruce were not here, she grabbed the glass and took a sip. Selina copied her, sipping before looking at her with a smile.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you here before,” she remarked, her lips quirked into a smile which seemed genuine, but Natasha knew was very much not so. She could feel the hidden intentions of the woman in her gaze and body language. She was very good, but not better than the Black Widow.
Now, all that was left for her was to confirm her true intentions, and if what she suspected was right, it would be even easier to get to Bruce. Her mother might have told her not to make this a seduction mission, but maybe she wouldn’t need to. Maybe it would be made a fun mission for her. She smiled at Selina as the two women engaged in a conversation that started platonically but quickly turned into something else.

Turns out Gordon did indeed have something serious, and Bruce was finding it a bit difficult to tackle this. Another venom trap exploded right in front of them, and he escaped by the skin of his teeth.
“I hate this moron,” John Blake aka Nightwing muttered as he kicked the exploded trap away. However, it had the misfortune of landing on the head of Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl.
“Johnny Boy…” Barbara growled, taking a menacing step towards the young man who yelped and tried to run, before jumping at the very last moment when another trap exploded.
“Fucking hell, I hate this cunt!”
Bruce sighed.
“Quit playing around. Wrap this up quickly and go back home. I don’t want to explain to your father why you’re out at this time of the night playing vigilante,” he rebuked, looking at Barbara in the end. The girl pouted before punching John on his shoulder when he laughed.
“And you. Start taking this seriously already. You could’ve been really injured at least twice in as many minutes.”
Nightwing simply nodded with a sigh.
“Come. We’re already there. I have some questions to ask of our dear guests.”
The trio walked carefully through the corridor until they reached a large warehouse. Wooden casks were scattered everywhere, and in the middle stood the cunt and his partner with matching grins on their faces.
“And the famed Caped Crusader arrives with his underlings. Welcome Batman!” Riddler spread his arms theatrically as he grinned. Beside him, a redhead smirked.
“Long time no see,” Poison Ivy whispered, licking her lips as she looked at the two men in front of her. Barbara saw her and growled.
“Oh shut it, girl. I won’t be claiming your man there,” she gestured towards John and chuckled as the girl flushed. “I won’t say no to a kiss though,” Ivy smirked, her poisonous lips curving upwards.
“How did you escape?” Bruce asked in a gruff voice. Riddler looked at him and laughed.
“Oh Batman, look who you’re talking to. You’re really questioning me? Have you forgotten me already?”
Bruce stoically stared at the man.
“Alright. Let’s play a game then,” Riddler smirked, pulling out a deck of cards and placing them on the table in front of him. He spread them over the table and grinned. “Pick a card.”
Bruce simply stared as John and Barbara prepared themselves, ready to jump into action.
“Don’t get too close with either of them,” Bruce muttered softly as Riddler smirked.
“You don’t wanna play? Too bad,” he mocked, before throwing the cards right at them. Instantly, Bruce pulled himself up and dangled against the ceiling. John ran forward and slid under the cards and Barbara fired a grapple and swung forward. The cards exploded right where they had been, smoke scattering all over the place.
Poison Ivy threw pouches of aromatic poison right in the smoke, intending to target at least one of them as Bruce and Barbara swung forward in silence while John dodged them as best as he could. Barbara threw pellets full of tear gas inside the smoke and smiled when the cry of Poison Ivy was heard.
Riddler stepped back and pulled out his cane. He tapped it against a box and grinned when it transformed into a miniature drone and started tracking his airborne adversaries. Bruce saw a blast of laser coming towards him and quickly dodged before Barbara fired several batarangs at the drone. Riddler frowned when it exploded.
“Tch. You’re a pesky little thing, aren’t you?” He grunted, looking at Barbara who threw another batarang at him. He threw himself to the side and grinned, before looking at the returning projectile and leaning to the side, deliberately mocking the girl. He frowned when she looked behind him and grinned before his eyes widened when the batarang collided with another one and exploded barely a metre away from him. Blinding light filled his vision as he was electrocuted, his cane falling from his hand.
“Good distraction, wasn’t I?” Barbara smiled when Bruce came over to her and dropped a stun bomb on the Riddler.
“Tie him up properly. Be careful though. The idiot could have anything. Better not touch him directly.”
Barbara nodded as Bruce turned towards the thick smoke in the middle of the warehouse. It had been eerily silent all this while. Neither John nor Poison Ivy had been sighted, and he was wondering if they were having a silent chase in no visibility. Quickly, he pulled out a few accessories and in no time, assembled something that looked like a gun. He fired it right inside the smoke. The vacuum hole attached itself to the floor and sucked all the smoke, rendering John and Poison Ivy visible.
His eyes widened when he saw the scene in front of him. Dark creepers covered the ground, protruding out of those wooden casks that were placed all over the warehouse, and there stood Poison Ivy, with John right beside her. His body was encased in branches which squeezed him, prompting him to grunt as Ivy smirked.
“Foolish of you two to focus on him over there, when you should’ve paid more attention to me,” she smirked. Barbara, who had tied Riddler up properly, came up beside him and glared.
“Tell me girl, should I kiss him?” Ivy smirked, looking at Barbara who was glaring at her. This woman might be mocking her, but Barbara had come to care for the idiot, probably a bit too much if she was honest with herself. There was no way Johnny Boy was dying.
“You don’t have to do this,” Bruce tried, his eyes trained on Ivy who was looking at Barbara. His fingers curled and he pressed a small button right at his wrist, away from everyone’s gaze. He looked at John’s struggling face and their eyes locked for a moment. He quickly blinked twice and looked away.
“Oh trust me, I’ll love to do this,” she smirked before she took a couple of steps forward. “But you’re right, I don’t have to. I’ll agree to leave him, if you agree to one thing, Batman.”
Bruce looked at her and tilted his head to the side.
“Will you let me kiss you, Batman?” She asked in an innocent voice, before smirking evilly. “Go ahead and answer me, Batman. Will you? I’ll leave this one then.”
“Now!” Bruce whispered and jumped into action. Barbara fired her grapple and pulled herself in the air as Bruce flung his batarangs right where John was. His gun fired at Ivy, who created a shield of wood which exploded. She turned around to reach John when a smoke bomb hit the ground in front of her.
“GAH!” She shouted in aggravation as the sound of her plants being cut reached her ears. “What?”
“You had your fun, Ivy. But it’s over now,” she heard Batman’s voice as a searing pain shot through her. She looked down to see a syringe sticking out of her thigh. Immediately, her legs went numb and she fell to the ground, looking on in shock as the smoke subsided. Her wide eyes took in the sight of Batman wielding a massive flamethrower and burning all her lovely plants in sight. Her gaze turned upward where she saw the two brats dangling against the ceiling and she snarled.
“Damn you!” She cursed as the last of her plants burned away.
Bruce tapped the button once again, and the flamethrower disintegrated into a pen, which he threw at John who caught it. The two young vigilantes dropped back to the ground. Barbara checked John for any injuries, who reassured her that he was fine.
“Right after I slid under those cards and they exploded, I felt something wrap around my legs. Seems like she went into action right then. All I could hear were the sounds of your fight while I stood there wrapped in stem and leaves. Fuck, they were painful,” John cursed. Barbara looked at him and slapped him on the back of his head.
“You utter twat,” she muttered as Bruce shook his head before looking at Ivy who had lost control of her limbs by now. He dropped a stun bomb on her for good measure and tied her up carefully. Once done with her, he walked over to Riddler who was mumbling incoherently.
“Heehee… heh… Riddle me this… heeheeheh… The circus…” He muttered before trailing away.
Bruce frowned when he went silent. With a sigh, he secured them and walked towards John and Barbara.
“Well, looks like we won,” she grinned. Bruce looked at her and shook his head.
“They were barely fighting,” he remarked, looking at the unconscious pair, “At least Ivy was. Riddler was his usual self, but no way Ivy would’ve lost so easily. No, it’s like they were simply passing their time. They knew they would be going back to Arkham, and they had no problem with it.”
John and Barbara frowned.
“It was to show us that they can. And the fact that they are okay with going back suggests they know they can do this again,” John observed.
“Also, they must know that we would make sure any possible escape routes are sealed. Which means they are confident that they have an escape route no one can think of,” Barbara remarked.
Bruce nodded.
“A direct and reckless challenge. I know of someone like that,” he grunted, recalling the unhinged psychopath with a painted face.
“Anyway, we have to tell them what we know and suspect. You two head back home, I’ll report to Commissioner Gordon.”
John and Barbara nodded as they walked away together, leaving Bruce with a couple of criminals and a couple of things on his mind.

After his talk with Gordon, the only thing on his mind was to vent his aggression somewhere. Post-battle aggression meant sex and lots of it. As Bruce entered his manor, he could only hope that his girlfriend was back. It didn’t matter whether she succeeded or not. He needed her, now.
It surprised Bruce just how much he had come to depend on human companionship. He had pushed everyone away after his parents’ death, but now after all these years, he seemed to relish being with someone once again. He had thought of Natasha recently, but that’s all they remained. Thoughts. He was happy with Selina, and he would not saddle her something with that. Not to mention he didn’t know where Natasha stood in her personal life either.
The faint sound of giggling brought him out of his musings, and he stopped for a moment. Did she really get someone? Oddly excited for some reason, he smiled and began climbing up the stairs toward their bedroom. The sounds intensified, soft giggles mixed with moans, and he smirked. It seemed his girlfriend was really enjoying herself.
‘Well, I’m glad she finally got someone she deemed worthy enough to share our bed.’
With a faint chuckle, he pushed the door open. He glanced at them for barely a second before entering and shutting the door behind him. He locked it for good measure. Although Alfred was away, there were other servants around the estate and it wouldn’t do if any of them entered while they were otherwise occupied.
He turned around and stared for a moment. His lovely girlfriend was still garbed in her black dress as she groped this lovely lady’s all over her silver dress, the colors perfectly contrasting with one another. He observed that she was a redhead, and had a very nice ass. The curve through her dress was showcased enticingly as they kissed each other heatedly. Her back was facing him, and his eyes trailed down her body to her legs. They were long and slender, and he observed the skin tones of both women were the same.

“Why don’t you turn our lovely guest around and decide if we should make her a permanent member of our relationship?” Selina asked with a wide grin, and Bruce abruptly stopped.
“I thought we decided we’ll keep it purely physical?” Bruce asked, his lips still against Natasha’s neck, and his eyes furrowed as he looked at her in confusion.
“I don’t think you’d want to let this lovely lady go after this,” she smirked, and grabbed Natasha’s hands, pulling her forward until their fronts were flush against each other. She looked at Natasha, who mirrored the smirk on her face, and as one, they turned to look at Bruce.
Bruce staggered back as he looked at her. It had been a few years since he’d last seen her, but she had barely changed at all. Her crimson tresses flowed down in waves, strands framing her face elegantly. But what beckoned him forward were her eyes, filled with raw emotions that were too overwhelming. He didn’t know when he was in front of her or when his palm started caressing her cheek softly. However, he caught himself at the very last moment.
Natasha watched with a frown as he pulled back and turned to look at Selina, who was smiling at the pair of them.
“You know, I didn’t fully believe Natasha here when she told me everything, but that reaction right there proves it beyond anything,” she looked at Bruce with a small smile, “You still love her so much.”
Natasha looked at Bruce with slightly wide eyes and a smile, who was staring at Selina.
“I know you love me, Bruce. But your love for Natasha is clear. Your eyes are practically screaming right now.”
She walked forward and took his hand in hers, and locked her eyes with his. “You pushed them all away. For how long though? Haven’t you suffered enough? Haven’t they? When will this end, Bruce?”
Each whisper was like a dagger through his heart. He had accepted it some time ago and recognized his actions for what they were – clouded in grief and misplaced blame. Yet, he had not gone back. Nick Fury, Diana Kent, Clark Kent, they all had personally approached him. And yet he had rebuffed them, either in resentment or guilt.
Seeing Natasha here after all these years brought up feelings he had long buried somewhere within himself, deep into some abyss in his heart he didn’t have any intention of ever venturing into.
