This,” he fished out a runestone from the crook’s pocket, “allowed them to apparate over short distances inside the ward. Unfortunately, it’s done for. Quite clever of these assholes actually,”
The aurors frowned.
“Nevertheless,” Kingsley continued, “we should be right up there in six to seven hours tops,”
The team nodded.
“Now, regarding these two, there are clear orders to eliminate any member of this gang on sight, so...”

“Smith, transfigure the bodies into something small and flammable and burn them off. We’ve got a long trek ahead,”
The auror in question grimly nodded as the rest of the team started walking ahead. Shacklebolt looked on before he conjured his patronus, a message for the team soon on the way.

“ You were right. Potter couldn’t resist the bait, came there with his team of fifteen, however,” he held up his hand when he saw Lucius getting excited, “Selwyn’s group encountered trouble. Out of thirty, only eight remain while the aurors suffered no casualties,”
Lucius’ joy evaporated in an instant and he snarled, “You mean to tell me a group of thirty was decimated by half its number, with nothing to show for it?”
“Precisely,” Yaxley nodded.

“Gather everyone in the main hall, every single one,” the man snarled, his eyes wide in rage and Yaxley tapped his medallion. As they entered through the double doors to the main hall, they saw about three hundred wizards assembled in the hall.
“Tell them,” Lucius snarled at Yaxley, who frowned. Meanwhile, the other senior members of the group looked on in confusion at the angry old man.
“The leader’s hunch was right. James Potter and his team arrived in the clearing. However, Selwyn’s team couldn’t do the job. Right now, their number stands at eight, while the aurors have suffered no casualties. Although the majority of them were grunts, the odds were still in their favor. Selwyn has requested reinforcements, claiming the aurors are barricaded inside their trunks and protected by those damned runic shields.”
“I knew Selwyn was worthless, I told you Rosier, but you were the one to convince me that the man could do the job,”
Rosier frowned at being singled out but wisely kept his mouth shut. Lucius held many secrets of his, secrets which, if got out, would get him killed by his fellow terrorists.
“The more important matter,” Yaxley began, shooting Rosier a glance, “is how much reinforcement to send. I assume the aurors would’ve requested aid of their own, and I can bet that they will be the top wands they have to spare.”
“How many?” Rosier enquired,
“Over a hundred and fifty, close to two hundred, I think,”
“About two-fifty then,” Rosier muttered.
“Oh enough of this. Everyone will go, we’ll end those cunts in one night,”
Yaxley frowned.
“Are you sure?”
“Don’t question me, Corban,” Lucius hissed, “prepare to head out in thirty minutes,”
