Films started as moving images. Back then films were only black and white and had no sounds at all. Silent films were the normal around 1894 to 1930. Dialogues were conveyed through muted gestures, miming, and title cards. The most famous actor of the silent film era was probably Charlie Chaplin.
As the technology evolved, films also became better. Films started having sounds. In 1909, the first color film was released.
From 1930 to 1950, studios started popping up in America, particularly Hollywood. MGM, Warner Brothers and Paramount were the major studios that survived that era that lived even now.
Noir films became famous around the 1940s and were considered art films with dark and realistic themes.
Once the 1950s arrived, internationalization started and films started circulating around the world.
When the era of New Hollywood(1960 to 1980) started, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, and many films were recognized by many. The start of Hollywood domination probably started in this era. Jaws and Star Wars defined the term Blockbusters. Since then, Blockbusters meant high-budget movies with strong appeal to the masses.
And now, the present could be described as the Digital era. Where computer-generated movies such as Jurassic Park, Lord Of The Rings, and Spider-Man took over the cinema.
As the era went by, Hollywood became stronger and understood the importance of movies. Especially great movies.
For Hollywood, erm, for the Big Six, movies that brought them profits defined the era. At the end of the day, money was responsible for the evolution of Hollywood. It was not art or any bullshit. At the same time, art films also flourished because of Hollywood.
Studios funded movies because they make money.
They prioritize and invest in movies that have higher chances of making huge profits. This time, a certain studio just proved its worth again. Unlike other studios that make losses because of a bad investment, this certain studio only produced one or two movies per year yet they were always profitable.
This studio didn't divide its investment into many movies. Their projects every year never passed 5 projects. Because of this, the studio never had losses.
It was something that many production studios envied. They needed that clear vision that understand the market. Probably a talent that only a few people had.
Kazir Grey started getting popular again because of his vision regarding how the box office market moves... As if he knew the future.
However, while Kazir had positive news, he also received negative news.
.........
......
...
April 11, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, a movie released a week before 2 Fast 2 Furious grossed $62 million. The movie was based on the cartoon Scooby Doo.
As for 2 Fast 2 Furious, unexpectedly, the movie already accumulated $156.51 million after 11 days of screening. Movie tickets didn't increase that much and people could still afford to watch movies at the theaters.
This fact was the reason why the box office each year increased. On top of that, other countries also followed the trend, and more theaters were being built every year to accommodate the digital era.
"Should I be worried?"
Kazir was holding a newspaper. Reading newspapers was the norm before the smartphone became a thing. Families usually subscribe and pay newspaper boys who use bicycles to deliver newspapers or magazines to their houses.
Being in the city of Los Angeles, Grey Pictures obviously received newspapers every day to read the latest news.
This time, Kazir was looking for the news related to 2 Fast 2 Furious. The box office results were great but the critics gave negative reviews. The movie critics wrote that CCU was getting stale and it was getting repetitive, people use guns and fists to fight...
"That's not even bad. Continental Cinematic Universe is an action-focused universe so obviously it's about guns and well-choreographed stunts. As long as the box office speaks good, then the critics are just spouting nonsense."
However, he also found some valid responses such as CCU's longevity. A critic stated that CCU could only last a decade at best because people would get tired of repetitive movies. He agreed, but at the same time not.
Avengers: Infinity War was the start of MCU's downfall. Marvel still released some amazing movies such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool, but the MCU is already in its dying state. But it was for different reasons.
MCU started releasing so many movies every year. They also released tons of TV Shows that flopped.
Each of the MCU TV Shows was connected to the universe. So once you missed one TV Show or one movie, it meant you missed a lot and might have trouble following the plot. The reason why MCU flopped lately is because they released too much product that the people drown and grew tired of them.
People were busy and they also had personal things to do. They couldn't just sit on the sofa and watch a 12-long hour TV Show just to keep up with the plot.
The greatest mistake that the MCU made was releasing too many projects. They fucked up.
Having female protagonists in their latest projects and going woke were just side dishes to their downfall. There was nothing bad with casting a female actress as the protagonist of a movie. But the way MCU did made the fans disappointed.
Kazir understood that too much content could be bad. So he promised that CCU would only film 2 to 3 movies per year and they would control their products.
"But this will not fix it. After all, people will still get tired of CCU no matter how long it takes. The best decision is to reboot the universe but let's talk about it once that happens. Because I'm sure CCU is still relevant 15 or 20 years later... That's a long time to milk this project."
He smirked... But his smirk didn't last long. The critics' negative reviews were not the reason why he was worried... It was because of some speculations about him.
